3.7 Making instant back up - ODB (On-demand Backup)
The VDR automatically maintains a recording of the last 12 hours. A manual backup for
safekeeping or for test purpose can be made whenever needed.
For detailed description of retrieving the backup copy, please refer to ANNEX A - A
guideline to retrieve and replay the data from HiVDR.
Purpose:
1. To preserve certain data from being overwritten with fresh data
2. To make a back up copy of recent 12hour data
Method: At HiRAM, with LEFT/ UP and the Record button simultaneously, you can make
a backup of the last 12 hours data in the hard disk to the specified hard disk.
Orange indicator with progress bar at HiRAM let the operator know the backup is in
progress. Completion message is displayed after finishing. It takes about 15~20 minutes
to finish. Press ‘Ack’ button to return normal state.
The data is stored as a folder named after the UTC time when the backup has been
executed.
Limitation: Due to the volume of the specified hard disk approximately 50 times, 25
days data, can be done, or optionally for more times. Once it becomes more than the limit
then the very first backup copy is over-written with new data. This time it will take more
than 20 minutes. The service engineer can clear this backup data on the annual survey.
Optionally you can retrieve the data with a laptop whenever you want before it reaches
the limit. Please refer to ANNEX A - A guideline to retrieve and replay the data from
HiVDR.
Protection: To prevent from unauthorized access, only dedicated playback software can
retrieve and replay the data. Also there is a password protection on HiDPU to prevent
from direct access through Ethernet connection.
