1 - PREFACE 1.1 – ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT THE USE OF THIS MANUAL
The life of a processor and its good working are mainly related to its proper use and to a maintenance made on regular basis. Due to this, users are kindly invited to read this manual and carry out all the instructions herein contained, especially those regarding the daily, weekly and monthly maintenance operations. With respect to general safety regulations, machine operations must be executed by qualified personnel only, in accordance with the specific characteristics of this machine and the operations to be carried out. The manufacturer could never be held responsible for damages to things or persons caused by the negligence of personnel who does not follow the indications contained in this manual. This manual must be considered an integral part of the machine and, as such, it has to be saved for the entire life span of the machine, following it also in case of change of property. In order to prevent any damage to the manual, please keep it away from humidity or other factors that could damage its content.

2.2 - GUARANTEE
The processor which this manual refers to disposes of a six months guarantee period, starting from the date of invoice.
This guarantee will cease in case the maintenance terms herewith described are not strictly observed and/or the failures are due to an improper use of the machine.
2.3 – SECURITY GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
a. The operators of this machine must carefully read this manual before using the processor, following the specific safety instructions.
b. The maintenance of the processor must be carried out by authorised and qualified operators only, previously trained by authorised engineers.
c. The operators in charge of the processor maintenance are required to execute the operations showed in the Paragraph “Maintenance” only.
d. No electrical or mechanical intervention is required to the operators. Specifically, it is absolutely forbidden to open the electronics box, closed with screws.
For electrical or mechanical intervention, please call the "Maintenance Technical Service" of the vendor.

3 - UTILIZATION CONDITIONS FORESEEN This processor is conceived for the processing (developing-fixing-washing-drying) of graphic arts film and paper. The introducing of these media into the processor can happen:
v from the dark room entry;
v from the daylight entry;
v by means of a conveyor connecting an image setter to the processor. No other use of the processor is foreseen. 4 - INSTALLATION 4.1 – PRE-INSTALLATION
The processor must be located in a suitable room where an adequate working area around the machine is available in order to allow service and general maintenance facilities.
Close to the processor, the user must foresee:
v wall differential switch with fuse, three pole 25 Amps - 2 phases, 380 Volts + neutral + ground;
v water inlet set, installed with the following sequence: ◊ 1/2” tap, water filter and, after this, a second 3/4” tap.
In order to proceed with the installation procedures (described in the following paragraphs), please consider that: v looking at the processor from the side of the film output, the power supply wire is
located on the left side of the machine; v the water inlet (with solenoid valve) and the liquid drain pipes are located inside the
machine. 4.2 - PROCESSOR RIGGING
In order to have an appropriate processor rigging, lean a spirit level across the rollers of the fixing section for a transverse check; then on the tank lateral wall for a longitudinal check. For the rigging, act on the adjustable feet.

4.3 - REPLENISHER TANKS LOCATION
Mark the replenisher tanks respectively with the signs “DEV” (developer) and “FIX” (fixer), and locate them on the sliding plate in the processor base.
Please note that the two replenisher tanks may be located alternatively on the right or on the left side of the processor.
Connect the drain pipes coming from the developer and fixer tanks with two cans suitable to recover the exceeding developer and fixer.
4.4 - WATER CONNECTION
a) Water supply The inlet processor tap (3/4”) is located inside the processor, under the plate on which the pumps are fixed. Connect the main supply water tap (3/4”) with the inlet processor tap (3/4”), using a PVC, high pressure, flexible pipe.
b) Water drain The water drain should be located as close as possible to the processor (within m. 1), with a drop allowing a drain of about 15 litres/minute. In any case, the maximum height of the drain from the ground should be of cm. 50 and the draining hose diameter should be of about mm. 53. If possible, connect the drain pipe of the processor washing section to the duct going to the central purification cistern of the company.

NOTE 1: It is possible to equip the processor with a sealed water recirculation system
for the circulation of the washing water. In this case, a water connection is not required.
NOTE 2: The front side of the processor is equipped with a removable plate, covering a hole where the draining pipes could pass through if required (see picture below).

Please remember that the exhaust chemicals and the washing water cannot be expelled directly in the water drain.

4.5 - ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
ATTENTION!!!! This appliance must be earthed!!!!
The processor must be electrically connected to a magnetothermic switch.
The following connections may be used (see also picture below):

5 - PROCESSOR FILLING WITH CHEMICALS
After the processor installation, it is necessary to fill the processor with chemical and start it, following the steps here described:
a. put the wall switch and the main switch of the processor on position “OFF”.
b. take away the lid to have access to the developer, fixer and washing tanks. Be sure that all the drain screw plugs are in their correct position and closed.
c. take away the right lateral panel of the processor (input film view) to reach the two replenisher tanks (developer and fixer).
d. take away the left lateral panel of the processor (input film view) to connect the developer and fixer drain pipes with two chemical waste collection tanks of adequate capacity.
e. carefully following the instructions of the chemical manufacturer, fill the tanks with the chemicals. Here follows the tanks capacity according to the different processor models:

f. When filling the tanks, it is recommended to follow this order:
◊ fill the fixer tank; ◊ rinse out the developer section and then fill the tank with the developer; ◊ the filling of the washing section is not required, as it happens automatically by
switching on the processor and activating an input sensor; ◊ fill the replenisher tanks, taking care not to invert the developer tank with the
fixer tank, following this order: w take away the covers; w unplug the level sensors located inside the replenisher tanks. Each of them is
identified with a sticker (the red “DEV” inscription for the developer and the blue “FIX” inscription for the fixer);
w fill the tanks; w plug in the sensors and put on the covers; w put the replenisher pipes (red for the developer and blue for the fixer) inside
each tank, fixing them adequately; w connect the level sensors connectors with the connectors coming from the
electronic box..

g. Put on again and fix properly the lateral right and left panels and the main lid of the processor.
NOTE: If one of the lateral panels or the main lid of the processor are not in their correct position, the processor will not start when switched on. An audio alarm signal ridges and an “Error message” appears on the control box display, indicating which of the panel is not closed.
6 - START UP OF THE PROCESSOR
6.1 - PROCESSOR SWITCH ON
To switch on the processor, proceed as follows:
◊ put on “ON” the wall switch;
◊ put on “ON” the main processor switch;
◊ be sure that the emergency switch is released (upper position);
◊ the 2 blowers for the chemicals fumes extraction begin to run;
◊ the inscription “Processor halted” appears on the control box display;
◊ press the ON/OFF key on the processor control box;
◊ after a short self test period, the microprocessor computer switches on, positioning itself on Stand-by condition.
6.2 - FILLING THE WASHING TANK WITH WATER
◊ Completely open the tap located on the wall.
◊ Using a film, activate an input sensor of the processor. In this way, the washing tank is filled with water.
NOTE: The intensity of the water flow is usually calibrated by the installation engineer,
acting on the tap located on the processor. After this calibration, the processor tap is locked. Therefore, at the processor switching on, the operator must just open the tap on the wall.
A level sensor located into the washing tank will stop the water flow when necessary. 6.3 - FILLING THE REPLENISHERS DELIVERY TUBES
For manual replenishment, keep pressed the push-button UP for developer and the
push-button DOWN for fixer, until the delivery tubes are filled up.

7 - USE OF THE PROCESSOR - WORKING SEQUENCE
a - When the processor is switched on through the main switch, the computer always
enter in STAND BY MODE.
The control box display shows the number of the activated programme with the related data:

If the letter De (developer), F (fixer) and D (dryer) are capital, the computer is indicating that the related chemicals have not reached the programmed temperatures yet. Therefore wait that these letters become small, before processing films.
In STAND BY conditions, the processor motor turns to its minimum speed, the circulation pumps and the developer and fixer temperature controls are working. In addition to this, an anti-oxid replenishment cycle happens on the base of prearranged programme.
b - Introducing a film into the processor and therefore activating one or more input
sensor (or introducing a film from the daylight entry or activating the Cycle key) the processor enters in Operate condition.
Therefore, the motor takes its programmed speed, the dryer fan moves at its maximum speed, the dryer heating element switches on and the water solenoid valve opens allowing the water to flow into the washing tank. At the same time, the automatic replenishment programme is activated.
The display now shows:

The 5 segments represent the 5 sections of the processor (input sensors-developer tank-fixer tank-washing tank-dryer section) and the 2 small squares represent the film position inside the processor. When the 2 small squares leave the input sensors section, it is possible to introduce a new film.
c - The replenishment cycles happen with programmable lengths and intervals.
The replenishment length is proportional to the number of input sensors activated by the film (i.e.: 1 sensor = 1.0 2 sensors: 1.5 3 sensors: 2.0).
d - A few seconds after the exit of the last film, the processor automatically passes to
Stand By condition.
Therefore, the driving motor takes its minimum speed , the dryer heating element switches off and the water flow into the washing tank stops. About 60 seconds later, also the dryer fan stops.
8 - SWITCHING OFF THE MACHINE
1 - To completely switch off the processor, set the main processor switch and the wall
switch on the position “OFF”. 2 - To switch off the machine, at the same time leaving the chemicals fumes extraction
blower on, press the ON/OFF key when the processor is in Stand-by condition. This condition also happens when the computer is set in “TIMER MODE” (automatic re-switching at a pre-determinate time).

9 - THE COMPUTER
9.1 – COMPUTER DESCRIPTION
The computer is composed by 3 PC Boards that, working together, constitute the whole electronic system of the machine.
v The main board is called C.P.U. and its functioning is controlled by a Z-80 microprocessor. This board has the function to organise, calculate and decide all the operations that the machine must carry out.
v The second board is called Relays Board and its job consists in transmitting the orders determined by the C.P.U. to the different peripherals and in receiving the conditions of the whole machine through the different sensors.
v The third board is called Display and its screen shows all the different data memorised into the main board.
In fact, the display is the bridge between the film processor and the operator.
9.2 - KEYS FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
FUNCTION KEY 1: “EXIT”
It allows to enter the Dryer Menu, the Processor Test and the Anti-oxid programme..
v DRYER MENU: It allows to set the dryer temperature value, common to the three available working programmes.

v PROCESSOR TEST
Activating this function, some dots appear on the display and, after that, the message “TEST OK” is displayed. This test certifies the communication between the Display and the C.P.U..
v ANTI-OXID
This menu allows to programme the anti-oxid replenisher interval and the anti-oxid stroke length.
FUNCTION KEY 2: “CICLE”
A complete processing cycle happens by pressing this key.
FUNCTION KEY 3: “ON/OFF”
When switching on the machine, after having set the main switch on position “ON”, be sure that the Emergency Switch is deactivated (upper position) and then press the
ON/OFF key.
The processor becomes operative and a working programme appears on the display.
By pressing the ON/OFF key when the processor is in Stand by condition, the processor is switched off, anyway leaving the fumes extraction fans still running.
FUNCTION KEY 4: “RESET”
Press this key to cancel an existing error message from the display and at the same time eliminate the audio signal indicating the error. Obviously, this happens after having eliminated the cause of the error.
FUNCTION KEY 5: “PROGRAMMES”
Press this key to recall the three available working programmes, displaying the related programming data.

FUNCTION KEY 6: “ENTER”
Use this key and this function to select the data to be modified.
FUNCTION KEY 7: “DOWN”
Press this key to decrease the data highlighted by the cursor.
When the processor is in Stand by condition, pushing the DOWN key causes a manual replenishing stroke of the fixer.
FUNCTION KEY 8: “UP”
Press this key to increase the data highlighted by the cursor.
As before, when the processor is in Stand by condition, pushing the UP key causes a manual replenishing stroke of the developer.

NOTE: The displayed temperatures are the current temperatures inside the tanks.
If the letters De - F – D are capital, it means that the real temperature does not match the programmed temperature yet. If the letters de - f – d are small, it means that the real and programmed temperatures are the same.
C - CHANGING THE PROGRAMMED DATA
In order to modify the data or some of the data set into the computer, proceed as follows:
a- press down the ENTER key and immediately after;
b - press the PROGRAMMES key;
c - using the UP and DOWN keys, select the programme with the data you want to modify;
d - move forward into the programme using the ENTER key and highlight the data to be modified;
e - when this value is highlighted, modify it using the UP and DOWN keys;

f - use the EXIT key to quit this menu.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!! - When a parameter of a programme is changed, never forget to re-select this programme in order to activate it. In order to do this,
press the PROGRAMMES key, recall the desired programme using the
UP and DOWN keys and then press ENTER key. After this operation, the normal working programme appears on the display.

D - SETTING OF THE CLOCK AND OF THE RE-SWITCHING TIMER
To enter this function, proceed as follows:
a - press the ENTER key for 1 second;
b - press the EXIT key to display the following:

c - Using the UP and DOWN keys, move to the desired option and select it by
pressing the ENTER key:
³ CLOCK TIME
To set the exact time, move the cursor to highlight the hour or the minutes to be
modified and then, using the UP and DOWN keys, set the needed values.
³ AUTOMATIC SWITCHING-ON OF THE PROCESSOR
To set the time for the automatic re-switching of the processor (for example, in the morning after), proceed in this way:
◊ using the ENTER key, highlight the hours and then the minutes.
Acting on the UP and DOWN keys, set the desired re-switching time, for instance 07.30;
◊ press the ENTER key until the cursor disappears from the display;
◊ with the DOWN key select “TIMER STATUS”;
◊ press the ENTER key to select “ON”;
◊ press the EXIT key. The display shows:

where 18:43 represents the current time. This display will remain active until the automatic re-switching of the processor (in this example: at 07:30 of the next morning).
NOTE 1: To modify or cancel the time of the automatic re-switching, press
and keys to change the previous display to the CLOCKS PROGRAMMING display (shown in the page before). To modify the time of the automatic re-switching, move the cursor with the DOWN key to select “TIMER AT” option, then press the
ENTER key and change the time as shown above. To cancel the time of the automatic re-switching, move the cursor with the DOWN key to select “TIMER STATE” and then press the
ENTER key to change “ON” in “OFF”.
To quit the program, press the EXIT key.
NOTE 2: Also in the case the “TIMER STATE” is set on “OFF” (it means
that the re-switching timer is not working), press the EXIT key to quit this programme.
E - TECHNICAL NOTE
v Changing of EPROM
In case a reset of the computer is needed or in case the substitution of the Eprom on the CPU board is required, proceed as follows:
1. Set the processor main switch on position “OFF”.
2. On the control box, press and keep down the UP key.
3. Always keeping the UP key pressed down, set the processor main switch on position “ON”.
4. Now, “OK, SYSTEM ACTIVE” appears on the control box display.
5. Only now it is possible to release the UP key and “SYSTEM HALTED” appears on the display.
6. Press once more the ON/OFF key and the display shows a working programme.
7. Enter into the Anti-oxid Menu (see “Computer programming” section) and re-programme the duration and interval values.

F - ERROR MESSAGES
Whenever a problem is detected by the CPU, an error message is displayed on the control box and an audio alarm is activated at the same time.
After having eliminated the cause of the error, press the RESET key. Keeping it pressed, ALARM RESET is displayed. Releasing it, both “Alarm Reset” and the audio alarm disappear. Here follows a description of the possible error messages, together with the related causes, effects and remedies.
CC MESSAGE COVER OPEN
CAUSE The top cover or the side panels are not in the correct position. EFFECT The processor stops and an audible alarm is activated. REMEDY Put the top cover and/or the side panels in the correct position. After this,
press the RESET key to eliminate the alarm and reactivate the processor.
CC MESSAGE LOW DEVELOPER LEVEL
CAUSE The tank developer level is low. EFFECT An audible alarm is activated. The recirculation pump and the heating
element are disconnected. REMEDY Top up the developer tank level. After this, press the RESET key to
eliminate the alarm and reactivate the processor. CC MESSAGE LOW FIXER LEVEL
CAUSE The tank fixer level is low. EFFECT An audible alarm is activated. The recirculation pump and the heating

G - PROTECTION DEVICES
In order to give the maximum protection to the operator in both operation and maintenance conditions, the processor disposes of the following protection devices:
³ SAFETY MICROSWITCHES
They are located on:
◊ upper main lid; ◊ lateral panels.
Removing any one of these components (lid - panels) will cause the stop of the processor, eliminating every kind of danger for the operator. At the same time, you will hear an alarm audio signal. On the control box display you will see “LID-PANEL OPEN”.
³ EMERGENCY SWITCH
This pushbutton, if depressed, stops the machine.
³ CONDENSATE FUMES EVACUATION
Inside the processor rear panel (film exit side), there are two extraction fans for the condensate fumes. Outside the same panel, a collector can be provided (as an option) in order to connect a flexible tube to evacuate the condensate fumes.
³ DISPLAY AND AUDIBLE ALARMS
Whenever a problem is detected (i.e., low chemical level in the tanks), an alarm is displayed on the control box and an audible signal is emitted.

10 - MAINTENANCE
In order to grant a long life of the processor and to prevent technical problems, it is of great importance to follow and respect a maintenance programme. 10.1 - DAILY MAINTENANCE
v Evening operations
◊ Deactivate the wall switch and the processor general switch putting them on the position “OFF”.
◊ Completely drain the washing tank.
◊ Close the water wall tap.
◊ Clean all the cross-overs with a wet sponge.
◊ Check and, if necessary, restore the levels in the processing tanks and in the replenishment tanks.
◊ Lift the top lid of the processor as much as necessary to avoid condensate problems.
NOTE 1: Instead of lifting the processor top lid, it is possible to leave it closed, acting
in this way:
◊ leave the wall switch and the processor main switch on the position “ON”;
◊ press the ON/OFF key. In this way, the processor will remain switched off, but the 2 anti-condensate blowers will still run, eliminating the condensate problems.
NOTE 2: If at the end of the working day, the “TIMER MODE” is selected for the
automatic switching on of the processor the morning after, the top lid can be left closed, as the 2 anti-condensate blowers will keep on running also in the “Timer Mode”.
v Morning operations
◊ Put the lid of the processor in operative position.
◊ Open the water wall tap.
◊ Reactivate the wall switch, the processor main switch and then “I/O” partial switch.
◊ Using a film, keep activated an input sensor untill the filling up of the washing tank is completed.
◊ Pass some clean films into the processor in order to remove dirt suspended particles in the solution or on the rollers.

10.2 - WEEKLY MAINTENANCE
◊ Deactivate the wall switch and the processor main switch, putting them on the position “OFF”.
◊ Take off the top lid and the lateral panels of the processor. ◊ Drain the washing tank. ◊ Take off the cross-overs connecting the 4 racks and carefully wash them with a
sponge. ◊ Draw out the washing rack, put it in a sink and, with the help of a sponge, wash
under fluent water rollers and guides. ◊ Clean or change the filter of the dryer fan (VERY IMPORTANT!!!).
If washed, put it in its position only when perfectly dry. ◊ Check and, in case, restore the levels into the processing tanks and replenishment
tanks. ◊ Put back in position the washing rack and its overflow plug, the cross-overs, the
lateral panels and the main lid of the processor.
10.3 - SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
Every two/three months, it is advisable to carefully clean the processor. Therefore:
◊ Deactivate the wall switch and the main switch of the processor, putting them on the position “OFF”.
◊ Take off the top lid and the lateral panels of the processor. ◊ Drain the 3 processing tanks recovering the liquids into suitable cans. ◊ Take off the cross-overs connecting the 4 racks. ◊ Draw out the 4 racks from the processor. ◊ Carefully clean and wash the 3 tanks. ◊ Carefully clean and wash the dev., fix. and wash racks (cross-overs included). ◊ Take off the dryer rack protections and clean the rollers, the guides and the air
conveyors, using a wet sponge. ◊ Drain the replenishment tanks and carefully wash them. ◊ Change the dryer fan filter. ◊ Put the racks, the cross-overs and the overflow plug into the processor, in their
original position. ◊ Now, fill up the processing tanks and the replenishment tanks with chemicals,
following with care the instructions given in this manual (“Processor filling with chemicals“ and “Start-up of the processor“).
NOTE: If desired, before putting the chemicals into the processor, it is possible to fill the processing and replenishment tanks with water. Following the previous instructions (“Start-up of the processor“), run the machine for about 15 minutes, in order to wash tanks, pipes, circulation pumps, replenishment pumps and racks.
