HISTORY OF BOLESŁAWIECCERAMICS
The Bolesławiec ceramics has beenmanufactured for many centuries fromnatural ceramic clays that can be foundnear Bolesławiec at the Bóbr and Kwisarivers.
The first ceramic dishes were made inmediaeval times.
QUALITY – IS THE MOSTIMPORTANT THING
Yet in the mediaeval times Bolesławiecpotters formed guilds that did the best toensure high quality of their tableware.
FIRST SHAPES AND PATTERNS
In the first half of 18th century Boesławiecpotters manufactured jugs and bottleswith spherical bellies, smooth ordiagonally grooved.
In the second half of 18th century and in19th century jugs were coated withoverlays of biblical or heraldic themeswith floral and animal elements.
COMPANY WITH TRADITIONS
History of our factory started on 1889, whenMr. Hoffmann, established factoryThornröhren und ChamottenwaarenfabrikHoffmann & Co., Bunzlau. Factrory producedceramics pipes, sanitary fittings and smallceramics items like ashtrays. Brand„Hoffmann & Co., Bunzlau” was presented onthe market till May 1945(untill the end of II World War).After war borders has changed andBolesławiec becomes Polish city and Polesstarted to continue production of ceramics.Zakłady Ceramiczne „BOLESŁAWIEC” Sp. zo.o. started production in 1946 and now weare the oldest manufacturer of ceramics inBolesławiec region.

The original products of our company arebranded with two types of a logo. The logofor classical and higher standard ofclassical patterns has been used since1997 and it was registered in 1994.
The other logo has been used since 2001 and it presents stylized coat of arms of the townBolesławiec with three towers.In the form as presented on the picture on the left it is used for medium priced products in subtle patterns.
The signature of a designer enriches thelogo stamp for artistic and excellent artisticpatterns creating the premium level of our
products.

CLASSICPATTERNS
Classic patterns group is the first one. The patterns refer to typical, traditional
Bolesławiec decorating in which the mainmotifs are peacock’s eyes, dots, lines in brown, cobalt blue and green colours.
In view of complexity and difficulty levelpatterns are divided into 5 groups

HIGHER STANDARD PATTEERNS
Patterns with higher standard are made by using mainly stamps in cobalt blue and
colour blue combined with green. In vast majority stamps are in shape of
peacock’s eye.

SUBTLEDECORATIONS
In subtle patterns group floral and fruitymotifs are added. The motifs have been
developed for years. They are now very precise, downright lacy
and join different shades of green.

Currently a whole range of colours is usedin artistic decorations; from different
shades of blue through greens, browns to oranges and reds.
