Many people are moving into big cities? Why would you think this occurs? Is it a positive trend? Big city life may seem preferable to life than a rural place because the many assets of large cities from medical centers to museum and shopping malls may outweigh liabilities such as urban noise and dirty air. The world is undergoing the largest wave of urban growth. In 2005 for the first time in history, more than half of the world’s population will be living in towns and cities. By 2030, this number will swell to almost 5 billion with urban growth concentrated in Africa and Asia. In principle, cities offer a more favorable place for rural people. Cities generate jobs and income .With good governance they can provide good education, health care and other services efficiently. Many people feel motivated to move. The reasons for moving are countless.. In a big city there are many good universities for people to choose. One can also find jobs with good salary which is quite difficult in small cities. Besides, they get benefits such as, entertainment, transportation facilities, popular malls, theatres, museum, good sanitation and housing. I do agree that it is a positive trend as interaction between people and businesses will benefit both parties. A big city offers a good lifestyle. There is scope for economic development. Cities also present opportunities for social mobilization of women’s empowerment. In addition, the density of urban life can relieve pressure on natural habitat and areas of biodiversity. The challenge for the next few decades is to exploit the possibilities of urbanization. The future of humanity depends on it.
