What's New Map360 2021 is a major release that focuses on graphics improvements, enhanced 3D model support, new licensing options, and several new point cloud import methods. The release also includes the latest updates to the CAD and point cloud engines.

IntelliCAD 10 The latest update for IntelliCAD is included in this release. IntelliCAD 10 is a major release that includes numerous new features and stability enhancements. Some of the highlights in the release are:

• Hundreds of core stability bug fixes and improvements • Import Wavefront Technologies Object (.obj) files and Stereolithography (.stl) files. • Perspective viewing improvements • Graphics card compatibility improvements • View drawings using additional visual styles, including Shaded, Sketchy, X-ray, and more. • Include background images • Material and texture support • Improved transparency quality • Dynamic input includes command prompts and measurement guides • Multiline text improvements, including spellcheck and paste text without formatting

Licensing Improvements We are introducing a new license method and standardizing to the Leica Geosystems Client License Management system (CLM). Starting with Map360 2021, all new licenses will use electronic licenses (EIDs), which replace the USB dongle license system used in older versions.

When you start up the program without an active license, you will see the license screen. Here you can choose which license type to use.

A migration plan will begin in July 2021 to migrate existing Map360 users from USB dongles to EIDs.

OBJ Model Support You can now import OBJ models directly into Map360. Layers, materials, and textures are fully supported and can be modified later by the user.

Two versions of the importer are available on the Draw Ribbon | Symbols section. The command names are OBJ Import and OBJ Unified.

Fire Pre-Planning Models The latest release contains over ninety fire pre-planning models. These models can be used to create fire pre-plans and diagrams.

The new models are protected, meaning that only Map360 can visualize and use them. To access them, use the Symbol Librarian.

3D Model Library Map360 2021 includes free 3D models of vehicles, trees, household items, and fire pre-plan symbols. The new models and symbols are proprietary and can only be used in Map360 2021. Our 3D library will continue to grow as we add more items in future releases.

Materials and Transparency Support Materials, textures, and transparency are now fully supported. Your 3D deliverables look more natural and realistic than before. You can add materials to any surface using the built-in material browser. Transparency can be added using transparent materials, or by adjusting the object’s surface transparency on the properties dialog.

Witness View and Camera Improvements The Witness View feature has been completely redesigned and made more straightforward.

Visually place cameras in your scene with ease and edit them quickly and precisely. You can define field of view, lens length, coordinate positions, and adjust them with joggers.

Visual Styles The new graphics devices used in Map360 2021 supports five new visual styles. Select the visual style that renders your scene exactly how you want it represented.

3D Orbit Improvements A new 3D orbit mechanism makes rotating in 3D scenes and point clouds much more efficient and intuitive. Users can even their right-click settings so the right-button mouse assignment pans for a familiar feel to other Leica products.

3D Positioning Controls When you click on 3D models, new positing controls are available. Use them to position your models in your scene more accurately and precisely.

Walk, Fly, Panorama modes You can now walk, fly and "turn your head" using your keyboard keys and your mouse. Use these tools to place cameras in difficult-to-access places, walk through buildings or look under objects like table and cars.

Visualize Ribbon A new visualize ribbon hosts all the latest 3D tools and camera options to ensure they are easy to access.

Dynamic Inputs You can turn on dynamic inputs for fast data entry when creating walls, doors and windows. The tool also shows command inputs at the cursor that give you instructions as you draw.

Custom Backgrounds You can now change the background to one of three user-selectable and customizable options: solid color, gradient color or image. Custom background gives your screenshots and other deliverables a polished and professional look.

Leica Cyclone ENTERPRISE support With this release, CloudWorx now supports consuming Cyclone ENTERPISE projects with the full contents of a project, including:

• Point Cloud (RGB, Greyscale, Hue Intensity) • Imagery (LDR, HDR, IR) • SiteMap(s) • UCS(s) • Clip(s) • GeoTags • Assets • Snapshots/Markups

Publishing to Cyclone ENTERPRISE requires a Cyclone PUBLISHER or Cyclone PUBLISHER Pro license. Connecting to Cyclone ENTERPRISE from CloudWorx requires an ENTERPRISE Connector license.

Multiple Point Cloud Sources With the 2021 release, it is possible to open multiple point clouds within the same project. The first point cloud is opened as normal and becomes the reference frame. Other point clouds, if the source is compatible with the existing point cloud, can be appended to the same project. See further below for a table of cross-compatible point sources.

Direct Connect to Cyclone REGISTER 360 With this release, CloudWorx 2021 users can now connect directly to Finalized Registrations in Cyclone REGISTER 360 to access project data without publishing to a server or exporting to an LGS file. The project must be a Finalized Registration, and Cyclone REGISTER 360 and Map360 must be installed on the same computer to access this feature.

By connecting directly to a Finalized Registration, users can eliminate the time spent publishing to LGS or a server product and reduce the possibility of redundant LGS files.

IFC File Support IFC files are now supported, allowing users to import IFC files from various sources, including Cyclone FIELD 360 Quick Plan and PointFuse powered by JetStream.

What's Improved Not only did we include new features in this latest version, but some of the existing tools you use every day have also been enhanced:

• New Scene: The option to create a scene folder will be checked by default. • Zoom Factor: Holding down the shift key while zooming provides a smaller zoom increment to

achieve a specific view. • Intersection Entities: Elevation has been added to the properties panel. • Baseline offset/Triangulation: Will now accept the feet and inch notation' and ". • Evidence Markers: A warning message was added when removing attachments from the

properties panel. • Bing Maps: The Bing Maps tools has been enabled for all license types, including demo mode. • Orthomosaic Images: A new mode is on by default that speeds up the redraw speed of images

as you pan and zoom. The system variable is called FASTIMAGEDRAW and is set to 1 by default. Setting it to 0 emulated previous versions of Map360.

• Leica Captivate / DBX Improvements o Image derived points from the GS18i now show a record in the measurement log o Captivate best-fit arcs now supported

Important Fixes Hundreds of stability improvements, bug fixes were included in this release. Here is a list of the most critical fixes:

• [D11057] – The help now launches from IntelliCAD dialogs • [D11010] – "Select a coordinate system" error message displayed during a DBX import is more

intuitive. • [D10869] – The license server dialog does not appear after running the CWIMPORTPC_LGS or

CWIMPORTPC_JS the second time. • [D10994] – Radius grips on intersections are incorrectly placed when elevation changes. • [D11002] –Redo does not update point nodes when moved with grips. • [D10180] – Delay when inserting a symbol from the symbol librarian • [D10911] – Layout is zoomed out after toggling between two drawings with point clouds. • [D10962] - Zoom extents is not updating the view in the viewports • [D10936] – Background color changes to white after switching between dialogs with the color

combo box • [D10988] - Point Protection not activated with EVR import after moving existing point and

accepting point protection overwrite. • [D10987] – Invalid input error in command line after moving a stored point with the properties

panel open • [D10980] - Point labels are disappearing after a MOVE and UNDO • [D10937] – Evidence marker text is not centered justified when edited

coordinate • [D108995] – The crosswalk insertion snap needs to be moved to the first end • [D10906] – Intersection arc ends are covered by the background hatching. • [D10900] - Undo not working after using MOVE command on intersection entities • [D10883] – Unique Geotag dialog text is cut off if name of geotag is too long • [D10876] – Moving baseline offset entity with points will move the points twice. • [D10875] - Point Protection triggers twice after deleting stored points along with points from

baseline offset or triangulation • [D10078] - Error message appears when adding a dynamic label to a LGS point cloud in

perspective • [D11109] – e57 point clouds always import in meters regardless of scene units • [D11110] – QA Protocol not identifying multiple targets in LGS file when targets don't have a

smart label

Known Issues Several known issues will get addressed in the first service pack. Here is a list of the most common ones with workarounds.

• Edges will sometimes appear when rendering in X-Ray mode. Set the VSEDGES system variable to 0 to eliminates the edges in your rendering.

• When using Dynamic Input with the command line closed, when prompted to pick a location in the drawing, entering known coordinates will not work. To fix this, turn off dynamic labels using the icon at the top of the program, or set DYNMODE to 3. Note that this issue does occur when the command line is open.

• The new FASTIMAGEDRAW mode can prevent large images greater than 1GB from loading. When this occurs, set the FASTIMAGEDRAW system variable to 0 or 2.

• The change color option when editing colors and materials doesn’t always show all materials loaded in the drawing. Workaround is to set the material to “by layer” and add the material to the layer instead.

• Sometimes the 3D positioner won’t have the axis gizmos. Turn them on by selecting a 2D symbol and changing from “Sketch Grips” to “Positioning Controls”. Alternatively, you can force them on by changing the system variable MS_MANIPULATOR to ON.

• Trajectory Cones and Trajectory lines are drawn on the same layer even when you set a different layer for each. There is currently no workaround.

• Some users may see a Vectorization error message when completing different tasks. To prevent the error, you can try setting you graphics device to OpenGL. You can do this by right-clicking the graphics device icon in the lower right corner of your program and selecting OpenGL.

• The SCREENSHOT_SAVE command always uses the OpenGL graphics device even if the program is set to OpenGL ES. The workaround is the use the SCREENSHOT_COPY command and save the image to a document or photo editing program and export a file there.

• Custom backgrounds containing images currently don’t export to PDF files. There is no workaround.

• Some users may experience problems when saving. This is likely caused when the drawing image preview is getting generated. You can disable generation of this preview by setting RASTERPREVIEW = 0.

Compatibility and Upgrades Map360 2021 can open drawings created with older versions of Map360. New projects completed with the program are also backwards compatible with older versions.

Map360 2021 installs in a new directory on your computer and will not interfere with previously installed versions.

You must have Administrator-level privileges on your workstation to correctly install the software. Map360 is compatible with 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10.

When working with point clouds, you will need to have Cyclone REGISTER installed if you need to open Cyclone (IMP) files. Please visit this page to download Cyclone products.

Map360 does not have any hardware requirements above and beyond what is required by your version of Microsoft Windows, aside from a compatible video card for the 3D rendering, animation, and point cloud engines. For details on system requirements, please review the following topic.

Licensing All users with valid CCP, or with CCP valid as of June 29, 2020, can run this new version with no new license required.

To use your existing USB dongle with Map360 2021, you will need to ensure you have a valid CCP contract and run the USB License Manager to update your key. Please refer to the Online instructions for activating your USB dongle for more details.

Users using USB dongles will see a "nag" screen when they run the program. This screen is a reminder that we are starting a phase-out of USB dongles, and users with a valid CCP contract at the time of release will receive a free EID license. These new licenses will be issued starting in July. Please refer to the Online instructions for activating Leica electronic licenses and migrating from USB dongles for more details.
