Improved width of data records
• MapInfo Professional v12.0 allows our users to have

• This is a direct (and early) result of the extra investment
in MapInfo Professional.
#8 from the
Ideas Portal
In product notifications to end users
• Will be used for notifications of new releases, web seminars,
expiration dates for Bing mapping and more.
• You have control over whether to see messages and the
frequency of checking for new messages.
– Separate settings for maintenance patches and news
• Settings are in Options > Preferences > Notifications
• Help > Check for News Feed…
New License Server
• We upgraded the backend license server ("FNO").
• New server is smart about recognising when a computer
that already had a license is requesting a license again.
– It will not decrement the license count.
• Improvements to the system should solve the errant
problem of licenses "breaking".

MapInfo Professional roadmap
Can we talk about Windows XP in 2014?
• We are dropping support for Windows XP in MI Pro v12.5. (June 2014)
• Main reason - Layout window work and the performance improvements are much harder to achieve in Windows XP.
• Example: Some of the Scale Bar improvements in v12.0 took 3x as long due to the need to support Window XP. – And even with that, not everything is working correctly on XP!
• Microsoft formally ends extended support in April 2014. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/products/lifecycle
