Web Services and Direct Connectivity

MapInfo Professional v8.5 offers the ability toaccess web services and to directly connect toenterprise solutions so you can leverage a widearray of capabilities. Through menu options, you can connect to Envinsa or hosted EnvinsaOnline Services to perform batch geocoding and address lookup or to create driving regions.Or you can connect to MapMarker for gecodingand address lookup.

This enables you to quickly location-enable your data and bring it into MapInfo Professionalfor analysis. For example, a retail firm wants to perform trade area analysis for four outlets. By connecting to MapMarker, they geocode their customer database and map the results inMapInfo Professional. Next, they access Envinsato create five, ten and fifteen minute drivetimeareas. The results enable them to analyze whichstores draw what customers and to better targetsale promotions.

EXAMPLE: A cable firm gets real time traffic conditions

and accident reports to route their service personnel in

the most efficient manner.

In addition to connectivity to Envinsa andMapMarker, there is MapBasic® support for HTTP, XML and FTP. This support enables youto connect to services including RSS feeds such as Yahoo traffic and XML interfaces to enterpriseapplications such as SAP or Business objects.You also can communicate with FTP services todynamically download data.

EXAMPLE: An insurance firm accesses RSS weather

forecast feeds to identify customers at risk of an

approaching hurricane.

Visualization and Analytics
