WHAT’S GOING ON AT ST. LUCY’S & ST. LUCY’S PARISH SCHOOL
Proxy bid for Cusqueño
painting of Our Lady We have received a beautiful picture of
Our Lady done in the Cusqueño style
(donated by Fr. Javier) that will be auc-
tioned off at our school auction on Satur-

this event, reservations are required
(please see someone after mass in the

lar business hours). However, for those who are not able to
attend this event, we would like to extend the offer to bid on
this item through a proxy bid. You just need to give us your
name, number, and the highest amount you are willing to bid
on this item. The proxy bidder will bid in your place and will bid
just like you would if you were there. If you tell us your highest
bid is $2500 (retail for this painting), we will start bidding in
your place when the bidding starts. If the bidding only gets to
$1500, then if no one is bidding against you at this point, you
get the item for $1500. Please contact the Parish office if you

Lent and Luke at St. Lucy All are welcome to join in a Lenten Bible Study Series
run by Fr. Ron Gramza which continues at St. Lucy’s Parish on
Thursday mornings in Lent. The sessions continue in the new
parish meeting room (Vajda Hall) at 9:00am on March 21st,
28th and April 4th and 11th. The focus is on the Gospel of
Luke which is the core of most Sunday Lenten Gospels this
year. These sessions last for about an hour or perhaps a bit
more.
Luke’s Gospel is known for its emphasis on Jesus’
love for the poor, His concern for women, and His emphasis on
forgiveness. This year’s cycle of readings contains some pow-
erful stories which are, not only thought provoking, but also
touch the heart.
Invitation To Serve St. Vincent de Paul Society RSVP - Helping Those in
Need in Racine County since 1934
Next weekend at Mass, one of our members will invite you to
consider a call to be Christ’s disciple like the apostles did – to
go out to others with God’s healing touch. Vincentians do not
judge but share God’s love and that of our community when
people are experiencing need. Please pray that those who hear
the call have the courage to answer. To be a servant of the
poor is not easy, but God greatly enriches the lives of those
who answer the call. The needy show us God’s love. Follow-up
meeting for anyone interested in our Society – Sunday, March
31, 9am-10am in the parish meeting room.

~Brightening Someone’s Day? This Lent consider writing one “Thank You” note or letter
to a Veteran or 1st Responder (Police, Fire-Firefighters,
911 Dispatch Operators, EMT/Paramedics) more if you’re
so moved! Then spread the good word! Ask your friends,
classmates, peers, work associates, teachers, neighbors—everyone
you know to help! Let’s see how many notes and letters we can col-
lect and, lives we can brighten. The more the better. Notes and let-
ters will be collected through Palm Sunday and then delivered to the
VFW & 1st Responders (Racine) and Fisher House (Milwaukee) Easter
Weekend. Simply bring your note(s) or letter(s) to church and place
them in the box in the Narthex. Letters may be generally addressed
and closed: example; Dear Veteran, Sincerely Jenny (no last names
needed unless signed by a family ie; The Hovan Family) A Note/Letter
box will be provided to any participating church, school, or group will-
ing to participate. Contact Jenny Hovan @978-376-9874 or jenny-
[email protected] with questions or to order a box.
Three Things Jesus and Veterans/1st Responders have in common:
Jesus laid down his life for us. ~ Veterans/1st responders have
and are willing to lay down their lives for us.
Jesus felt lonely and misunderstood at times. ~ Veterans/1st
Responders have felt or feel lonely and misunderstood at times.
Jesus has and continues to be under-appreciated and ignored by
some. ~ Veterans/1st Responders have been and are under-
appreciated and ignored by some.
Some facts: 20 Veterans a day commit suicide. Though there are
various reasons, several are: feeling lonely, being under-appreciated,
and/or ignored. Additionally, 1st Responders are 10X more likely to
commit/attempt suicide than the National average.
