SCINTILLATING

SUPERSTARS

SUPERSTARS

What I really want to do is finish this

year with our unit doing over $800,000 of UNIT

PRODUCTION by June 30th. Trust me, to pull

off the Prestige Trip in the year you’re finishing

a National Area, is a huge sign of strength.

There were 3 Cadillac units dancing

across stage, showing off their bling, and

stopping to give the IT sign. There were many

of our area directors and their units who

finished challenges,

were on target for

courts and graced the

stage with pride,

looking so professional.

For the first time we

have someone officially

on target for the

Queen’s Court of

Sharing. Cheer Sarah

Hagen on to win the

very first bee in our

area. Who else will be

setting personal and

unit records?

Most important,

who will be in Dallas at

the Pearl Seminar to

celebrate our National

Area Debut? Who has

booked her flight or set

up her ride? Who has

registered? Who has started planning what

dress she’ll wear or whether or not she’ll be in a

Red Jacket or on target for a car? And who will

be cheering for those 21 IT GIRLS in their black

Director suits and Red HOT shoes as they

adorn the steps of the stage?

Hope it will be you!

Dear Scintillating Superstars,

Career Conference in Schaumburg

this year was a memory. We lined up

outside the door, we let the crowds swarm

in racing for seats, and for the last time, the

Scintillating Superstars “sashayed” up that

aisle to the front row seats. And the best

part is that so many of the Chicago area

directors and consultants knew who we were

and what we were doing. It was our last

Career Conference, and we

finished as the #1 unit

there!

The magic moments

continued as the new

directors were introduced

and SEVEN new directors

announced their names one

after another: “This is

Sarah Hagen from the

FUTURE MARTIN AREA!”

As the pattern continued,

the crowd listened more

closely, and the applause

increased for the Martin

Area directors. I can’t tell

you how many people

afterwards told me they

got cold chills imagining

the day when it would be

them debuting that many

directors.

How did it feel walking up to that

podium to give my last Career Conference

speech as a director? Honestly, I had mixed

emotions. I’m acutely aware that I will have

7 more Career Conferences as a National.

That doesn’t quite seem like enough.

Maybe that’s why I’m so proud that we’re

doing “IT” with excellence. We are right now

almost at $650,000 and finishing the trip to

Greece.

Each month I will feature a different Future Martin Area Director in our newsletter.

Directors have all gone through many of the same issues that you have or may go through in your life and career.

Director Name: Monica Yard

Former Occupation: Pilot/Escort for Oversized Loads (GE Wind Energy Project)

City/State: Clayton, Illinois

Joined Mary Kay: April 12th, 2009

Debuted as a director: March 1, 2010– Had her director debut on April 12, 2010, her one year anniversary!

# of months of driving free: one month

Highest commission check in one month: $983 as a consultant…I can’t wait for a Director check!

What was the sequence of events that brought you into the company? (recruiting layering process) I attended my recruiter’s open house in December of 2008. I did a practice interview with her and gave a “2 or 3” on the

scale of 1-10 of interest. I attended a Product Preview in early April 2009 and signed a few days later after I saw Grace

work with a consultant on a friendship level. I realized she wasn’t only a saleswoman…she was a great friend too.

Why did you join? I needed an income because I hadn’t had one for 8-9 months because of layoffs!

Why did you want to become a director? I was carrying around this phrase “why not?” My husband thought it would be a good idea and I wanted to help Jeanie become a National Area. It wasn’t until my 2nd or 3rd month into DIQ

that I wanted to be a Director. I guess I stopped being scared of what I was becoming...and that was a leader.

Has there been a dark season? I can’t think of any dark seasons in my career. I’ve been very blessed in my first

year!

What is the one thing that was difficult for you or you were afraid of in this business? I was worried for a

little while what others would think of me. I was the tomboy. When I became a consultant, my image did a 180 and I

wanted people to take me seriously.

During what time period did you have the greatest growth of income and what was the growth? I had the greatest growth in income after I came home from Retreat in 2009. I came home and brought in 5 new consultants in the

month of October. That was my very first gold medal and the commission from their inventory orders made me smile!

THIS MONTH’S ISSUE OF:

IF SHE CAN, I CAN!

Page 11: March 2010 Newsletter

Page 11

What do you attribute the growth? I attribute the growth to me wanting something more. I had just gone to retreat and was on cloud 9! I had so much inspiration that I went home and made use of it all in the best way I

could…by seeing faces and interviewing prospects!

What advice would you give a consultant who wants to be a Director? I think becoming a Director is an amazing accomplishment. It takes dedication and the ability to be coached. I would take suggestions from successful directors and run with them. Be a sponge. Take charge and make way for a new life! Being a Director is offering SO

much more than I could have imagined!

My dream corner….. I’m dreaming of what it will feel like on May

1st, when we’re at the Tour de Martin. My Mom still can’t believe

100 of you would want to come to Streator to find out about me.

Who will be riding RITA? Who’ll be following behind? Won’t that

day be the best way to celebrate the finish of our second month

of NIQ? We’re truly moving up the stairway to become a

National Area. In 2 months everyone in the MK world will

recognize us as the “IT” National Area. What do you think?

Should May 1st be the day to announce our NATIONAL song?
