A message from our Hosting Worshipful Master !!

Brethren,

It's my first time sponsoring Masters and Wardens here at West Broward

Lodge 253 in Broward County as the new installed Worshipful Master. It is in-

deed an honor and a pleasure to do so.

Looking from the East it's a privilege most masons await and seek. It is an

opportunity to do a great many and important things for the community, your

fellow man and for our fraternity as well.

There are many young brothers from the district presiding in the East, occu-

pying seats on the West, South, appointed positions on their respective lodges as

well as serving on committees and doing a great job. With this new blood I fore-

see great years ahead for my district and masonry in general. I'm looking forward

to working with all these new brothers, their lodges and dreams to make masonry

News from Hollywood Assembly # 12

We would like to say Thank you to all who supported our Annual Valentine's Day flower sale.

It was very successful and we hope you liked the arrangements. Hope everyone had a great day.

Our meetings for March will be: March 14 and 28 at 7:30 PM at Eureka North Shore Lodge No

269 . This year Jordan has been selected to represent us on the Grand Floor as a Grand Page and Aubrey

and Alex have been selected to be in the Grand Choir. We are looking forward to Grand Assembly in June.

My Brothers,

The end of February marks the completion of two months of hectic activities

for all our Lodges; the culmination of which will be the sold out MMRL a Dia-

monds and Gold Dinner Dance.

This month I want to plan our year, a task that is impossible to complete with-

out your input. I alluded to this in last month’s Trestleboard, but to date haven’t

received so much as one call, email, letter or suggestion. Apathy will not build our

fine establishment; where are all our new Masters and Wardens? Please make

every effort not only to attend our monthly meetings, but also to contribute to

them. We have an amazing pool of diverse talent within our lodge rooms, let’s tap

into it and come up with some inventive ideas that will refresh and invigorate our

Brethren.

Pilgrimage Day at the Masonic Home is the weekend of March 18th - 20th.

This celebration marks the dedication of our First Lady’s Project. If you were un-

able to attend the annual Christmas party, this event

gives you another opportunity to visit this fantastic

facility. Special rates have been negotiated at the

Comfort Inn hotel nearby the home, full details are

available from myself or R:.W:. Al McDonald.

I look forward to seeing all our new Masters and

Wardens regularly in attendance at our meetings and

taking an active role in them.

As March brings in the beginning of spring, there are some important dates to re-

member.

March 7th is the ―Town hall‖ meeting with R\WGeorge Aladro, senior Grand

Warden at Roe Fulkerson Lodge No 299.

Dinner will be at 6:00 PM and meeting at

7:00 PM.

March 19th is Pilgrimage Day at the

Masonic Home in St. Petersburg. There will

be food, music, craft tables, book sale, car

wash, car show, tours, and child ID. If you

have never been to the Home this would be

a great opportunity to come and enjoy the

celebration and see the Masonic Home.

Let’s try to make this a great turn-out for the

33rd District. Seeing the Masonic Home for

the first time will be an experience that you

will never forget.

March is also Masonic Youth Month

and Masonic Youth association of Florida.

They are the Rainbow for Girls, Jobs daugh-

ters, and DeMolay for Boys and they need

your help. ONE HUNDRED percent

(100%) of every dime collected, goes to help support our Masonic Youths. Remem-

ber brothers, these young ladies and young men are our future.

I will be making visits to your regular meetings and Degrees whenever possible.

My next Official Visit will be March 1st at Doric Lodge No 140, and March 22nd

at Coral Springs Lodge No 373.

Some authorities think of temperance, fortitude, prudence and justice only as moral

principles, the use and value of which is Masonically taught. The consensus, however, is

that they are symbolic because their

meanings can be extended beyond

mere definitions. Thus, temperance,

usually taken to mean care in use of

stimulants, Masonically means far

more, just as it did to Socrates, hun-

dreds of years before it was woven

into Freemasonry. Temperance means

caution in action, speech, thought,

feeling, judgment, life and living. For-

titude implies physical bravery, but,

Masonically, moral courage far more

than physical. Prudence is not merely

the selfish determination of "what is

good for me" but the use of common sense, reason, logic, in meeting any problem. Justice,

a civic concept, is Masonically allied with that with which it cannot really exist—mercy.

Justice is a strict interpretation of the law which is an expression of the greatest good to the

greatest number. Mercy is actually a tampering with, as well as a tempering of, justice and

implies that in special cases justice is insufficient. This moral dilemma of philosophy is not

indicated ritual-istically, but is implied by the fact that the first three cardinal virtues do

have a symbolic as well as a moral meaning.
