recognizes that students need a break between

courses, studying, and papers to ensure success.

All students should understand that whether

you are staying in town, traveling out of state or

abroad, your safety is your number one priority.

The following are some general safety tips to

    follow:

    Before your Leave:

    Secure your room, apartment.

Make sure all windows are closed and locked.

Leave a copy of your travel itinerary and emergency contact

    information with someone back home.

Track your baggage and personal belongings at all times.

Dont have your names and address highly visible on your

    luggage.

Pack tools, sunscreen, sunglasses with UV protection, hat,

rst aid kit, car safety and maintenance materials, water and

    snacks.

Keep those with whom you are traveling with and someone

back home informed of any changes to your itinerary.

and Mexico), make sure you have an up-to-date passport,

proper visa and get to know the laws and rules of that

    country.

Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Travelers checks are

always a good idea. Leave credit cards and ATM cards

    locked in a secure place.

Make sure you are aware of the location and contact

information for the police and any other emergency contacts
