One Acts Bring Laughter to C/S
On Thursday, January 28 the Corsica-Stickney drama department took their comedic one act play, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, to
the Pepsi-Cola Theatre in Mitchell. The One Act play festival hosts seven different schools. Three judges attend all of the plays in the same
day. Each judge is asked to rank the plays first through fifth with everything after fifth being a sixth place ranking. Then they use a matrix
to figure out which two of the seven plays will move on to the state festival which is held in Sioux Falls on February 4-6.
The cast and crew did a wonderful job on their performance and received two second place finishes and a sixth place finish. This did not
qualify them for state but they ended the season with a fourth place finish. The judges also have the opportunity to give out “Outstanding
Actor” awards to students who exemplify great acting. Two Corsica-Stickney students were given this award, seniors Alec Burns and
Daisy Van Genderen. All the students did a fantastic job and should all be very proud of the work they did.

2-Alec and Daisy in Cinderella
3-Alec and Collin in the Devil’s Grandmother
This year’s noncompetitive play was 13 Ways to
Screw Up Your College Interview. In this fast
pace comedy, two interviewers try to get one
more student enrolled so they meet their quota
and keep their jobs. This sounds like a job that
should be easy enough but when you have to go
to the wait listed kids things can get interesting.
From practicing vampires to practicing magicians
these crazy characters kept the interviewers on
their toes.
