50th Anniversary 40 et 8 Days Camp American Legion

As Chairman of 40 et 8 Days at Camp, I cannot stress enough what an absolute fun weekend you’ll experience by coming up to Lake Tomahawk / St. Germain this coming June for the 50th installment of this event. Over the past years we have started a Saturday morning fishing tournament at the Camp which is run by Dale Mitchell. Don’t worry about a fishing license because if you are on a Camp pontoon boat, you are not required to have one. The Friday afternoon bean bag tournament behind the Rustic Manor has become very popular among those attending. Bon fires on both Friday and Saturday evenings to go along with shopping in Minocqua, Eagle River, Three Lakes or in St. Germain. We’ll be going to the Three Lakes Winery this year on Friday morning. The Friday afternoon picnic to go along with the Satur-day picnic at the Rainbow Flowage and don’t forget the Sunday morning breakfast at the Main Lodge at Camp. You might want to drive over to Manitowish Waters to visit Little Bohemia where John Dillinger had a shootout with the FBI in April of 1934. Plenty of lakes to go swimming and I don’t have to tell you about all of the restaurants in the area. Now most of us stay at the Rustic Manor in St. Germain. Their number is 715-479-9776. We’ll be up there on Friday the 21st to Sunday the 23rd. Many of us will already be there on the 20th just to socialize. Please mention the 40 et 8 when making reservations. We are currently selling these 50th Anniversary pins for $3.00. SO if you wish to purchase one, see the Chef de Gare or the Correspondant.

And make plans on attending the event!

MEMBERSHIP Do you know of a Veterans or active duty Military personnel who would be interested in joining without a doubt the greatest fraternal, non profit, volunteer Veterans organization n the face of the earth! If you do then why not ask them about joining La Societe. We are always looking for those who are not interest-ed in politics or a good ol boys club. “NO”! We are look-ing for those Veterans (Male or Female) who ae interest-ed in Americanism, Child Welfare, Flags for 1st Graders, Nurses Training, riding in a parade in our locomotive, promoting the POW-MIA Awareness in the area and a host of other facets or events within La Societe. The most important part of being a Voyageur is the camaraderie one has with their fellow Voyageur. There is criteria one must have in order to become a member of La Societe and that is either a Honorable Discharge DD-214 or for active Military personnel a 220. Jefferson County pays for the new Voyageurs 1st years dues and their initial chapeau so in reality it does not cost the Voyageur anything to join our organization. Chef de Gare Dave Behling is asking for every Voyageur to ask one Veteran about the possibility of joining the Jefferson County Voiture No. 750.
