MARCH 2020
CINEMA . CHARITY . CAFÉ BAR . GALLERY . EVENTS . VENUE
LIGHT HOUSE NEWSAs we head into March, Spring is definitely in the air and we look forward to more sunshine. Our courtyard looks particularly beautiful at dusk - come and see for yourself and make the most of our bar before enjoying a screening.
Spring also means the courtyard starts to get warmer, so we look forward to the start of our outdoor events season which starts this month with Wolves Women’s Day. Offering stalls, talks and live music, raising money for Lotus Sanctuary who support vulnerable women across the Black Country.
We’ve got a great mix of films and events this month. To mark its historic Oscars win for Best Picture, as well as its many other international awards, we’re bringing back Parasite - I highly recommend it. Renee Zellweger scooped the Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Judy Garland, so we thought the film Judy would make a good
choice to mark Mother’s Day. We’ve also brought back Sam Mendes’ 1917 - well worth a watch on the big screen as it won the Oscar for Best Cinematography.
We’ve included some information in the middle of this programme about how you can continue to support us as a charity with our #LoveLightHouse campaign. We rely on donations alongside our ticket sales to enable us to bring the best films, theatre screenings and events to the people of Wolverhampton, so please do consider supporting us - there are lots of ways you can help!

SWAN LAKEWednesday 1 April, 19:15 . £18/£12.50 under 15sLiam Scarlett’s glorious production of Swan Lake, new in 2018, returns for its first revival. While remaining faithful to the Marius Petipa/Lev Ivanov text, Scarlett’s additional choreography and John Macfarlane’s magnificent designs breathe new life into what is arguably the best-known classical ballet. The entire Company shines in this eternal tale of doomed love. Tchaikovsky’s first score for ballet soars with its symphonic sweep and combines perfectly with exquisite choreography. An intoxicating mix of spectacle and intimate passion, the overall effect is irresistible.
Evgeny Nikitin is the mysterious seafarer searching for salvation. Director François Girard, whose mesmerizing production of Parsifalrecently wowed Met audiences, returns to stage Wagner’s eerie early masterwork.Valery Gergiev conducts.
