Nurse Archer’s Announcements Spring is upon us, so if your student has seasonal allergies please make sure if they take allergy medications that they

receive them before coming to school. Also, make sure to apply sunscreen and mosquito repellant at home before

your student comes to school. Please note that Pearland ISD policy for all medications including over the counter

medications like cough drops need signed documentation from a parent or guardian whose name is on skyward. The

documentation should include when to give the medication, how much to give and state if the medication would

need to be returned home daily. Any medication that is to be given longer than 10 school days must include a doctor’s

signature. Please find the form under Nurse on Massey’s school page or under Health Services on the Pearland ISD

main page.

Spring time reminders from Nurse Archer: Massey Mavericks remember to always wear your helmets while riding

your bikes and Stop, Look and Listen—then use your feet to cross the street.

Have a spectacular spring break. As always feel free to email or call me. [email protected] or 281-727-1707.

Hola! This month we will learn about different

cycles, seasons and the five senses. Thanks for

your continued support and patience this year.

If your child is on campus, they do not need to

complete the seesaw activities for specials.

Thanks!

Sra. Castillo & Sra. Miller

It will soon be time for one of our favorite weeks of the school year – we’re having a

virtual Scholastic Book Fair in April! Be on the lookout for more information before the end of the month. We have been able to celebrate several classes lately with shout-outs and extra checkouts because all of the students in the class returned their library books on time. Please remember to keep your books in your backpack so that you are ready to turn your

books in on your scheduled library visit. I plan send notices out soon to those students who have lost or misplaced books. I love for all of our students to have the opportunity to have access to our library’s resources each time they visit the library. Last month our 3rd and 4th grade students had the opportunity to vote for their favorite Texas Bluebonnet Book. I’m happy to announce that our students voted for the book New Kid by Jerry Craft as their favorite, with a 3-way tie for

2nd place: A Wolf Called Wander by Rosanne Parry, If I Built a School by Christ Van Dusen, and Stay by Bobbie Pyron. The 2021-22 list is available at https://txla.org/news/2021-2022-texas-bluebonnet-award-master-list-released/

if you would like to begin reading for next year’s vote. Mrs. Gilmore - Librarian

Upcoming Music Concepts: PreK/Kindergarten: High and Low pitch exploration

1st grade: Singing pitch patterns of Sol, Mi, and La

2nd grade: Lines and spaces of the staff

3rd grade: Reviewing reading lines and spaces and applying to pitched percussion 4th grade: Composing music using notation

Happy 2021! Mrs. Maxwell

Hello from the art room where the students are springing into creativity with new and exciting colorful art as we explore elements of art. March has come and spring will soon be in full bloom. The students are working on a heart collaboration project featuring various contemporary pop artists used as inspiration. We are using various tools to create colorful masterpieces. It is also Youth Art Month, also known as YAM. Spring is a wonderful time of the year to get out and explore color. Never forget ~ Get Smart, Create Art…

IB Spotlight – By Jennifer Hoot, IB PYP Coordinator

Massey Ranch parents, students and staff showed how generous and caring they

were during our 15 Days of Caring Service project by collecting hygiene items for

the homeless. We collected over 400 toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes, more

than a hundred deodorant bottles, a lot of shampoo and soap, plus much more. I

know that our service partner Crosspoint Church in Pearland will be thrilled when

we make the delivery next week. Thank you all so much for your generosity.

This month parents and students will be focusing on what it means to be an

inquirer.

Students who are INQUIRERS are curious about the world. They can conduct

research independently. They love learning and discovering new things and will

carry this love of learning with them throughout life.

How can parents help to develop students who are inquirers at home?

Encourage areas of your child’s interest by visiting the library to borrow

books that explore these topics.

Develop and understanding of the internet. Work with your son or daughter

when the internet is being used and try to instill the understanding that

some internet sites are not safe or reputable.

Model being an inquirer. Admit when you don’t know the answer to a

problem or a question and seek out the answers in front of your child.
