MARCH 27, 2018 THE CHURCH VISITOR Easter Special Offering The Table, The Cross, The Tomb As we head toward Easter, we have a lot going on at Richland hills Christian Church this week. We have the Lord’s Supper on Thursday in the Sanctuary, and a Good Friday service that profoundly impacted many last year. We will also begin the Prayer Vigil on Friday evening. Of course, on Sunday, we have our Easter Service. What a great week to invite people to join us for several days of memorable services that can bring deep meaning to Holy Week. What a way to end our Lenten observances. This morning I was in the Sanctuary emptying the Baptistry after a test of the new heater and pump, which means we are all set for any upcoming Baptisms that may occur. I also took down the pieces of paper from the Cross in the Sanctuary, which I will be burying sometime this Friday. Some of them were located on the back of the Cross, others were quite low. As I said, I don’t open or read them, but you wonder…does even the location mean something about what has been written? Were the pieces on the back hidden from others to see? Were the ones that were lower because people were falling to their knees in front of the Cross? Some were folded multiple times. Oftentimes we share meaning without saying anything, and the simplest actions can speak volumes. So, what are you doing this week? Anything different from previous years? Have you made plans to come around the Table and share a meal of remembrance with your brothers and sisters in Christ? Will you come on Friday to the Cross and recognize what Christ has done for you? On Sunday morning, will you go and look in the tomb and be a witness to Christ’s victory over sin and death? It’s hard to believe Lent is nearly over, but time still remains to make it meaningful. The question is will you? Come and see the Good that has been done and Give Glory to God! 3908 Ruth Road Richland Hills, TX 76118 (817)284-8679 Senior Pastor: Paul Klaus Website: www.rhccdoc.com E-mail: [email protected]

APRIL CALENDAR

Quote from: “Follow Me” —by David Platt

“There’s nothing more exciting than experiencing the power of God firsthand. We would all love to stand with Elijah as he called down fire from heaven or to walk with Daniel through a den of lions or to see Peter and John tell a crippled man to stand up and walk. But these miracles happened when God’s servants were being his witnesses in dangerous situations. We miss out on seeing the Spirit’s power when we refuse to live by faith. We miss out on experiencing Christ when we don’t speak up for him.”

Quote from: “Deep & Wide” —by Andy Stanley

“At its core, Christianity is an invitation to reenter a relationship of trust with the Father. At the cross, sin was forgiven and we were invited to trust. It makes perfect sense that salvation comes by faith, not obedience. Intimate relationships are not built on obedience. They are built on trust. Walking by faith, again, is simply living as if God is who he says he is and that he will do everything he has promised to do. As a person’s confidence in God grows, he or she matures.”

Pictorial Directory

Brandon Hall, Mike Morrison, and Carol Jean New will be taking pictures starting Easter Sunday (THIS Sunday, April 1) and the following 2 Sundays (April 8 & 15) for the purpose of putting together a pictorial directory. Please let us take a few minutes of your time one of these Sunday for a picture!

Creating a new Pictorial Directory will be so helpful to all members (old & new). It’s always nice to be able to “put a face to the name.”

I sincerely appreciate the love this church has bestowed upon me. From the cards, phone calls, visits and food provided to myself and Judy, one cannot help but see the face of Christ in all these offerings and blessings.

Thanks so much,Bill Walther

A Little “BRITE”ness from Linda

In Gordon MacDonald’s Ordering Your Private World, a metaphor for our spiritual self is described as: “For me, the helpful metaphor for the inner spiritual center has been a garden, a place of potent peace and tranquility. This garden is a place where the Spirit of God comes to make self-disclosure, to share wisdom, to give affirmation or rebuke, to provide encouragement, and to give direction and guidance. When this garden is in proper order, it is a quiet place, and there is an absence of busyness, of defiling noise, of confusion. The inner

garden is a delicate place, and if not properly maintained it will quickly be overrun by intrusive undergrowth. God does not often walk in disordered gardens. And that is why inner gardens that are ignored are said to be empty. Bringing order to the spiritual dimension of our private worlds is spiritual gardening. It is the careful cultivation of spiritual ground. The gardener turns up soil, pulls out unwanted growth, plans the use of the ground, plants seeds, waters and nourishes, and enjoys the harvest of that result. All of this is what many have called a spiritual discipline. We can make a chapel of our heart, to which we can from time to time withdraw to have gentle, humble, loving communion with Him. Let us begin soon.” (122-123)

Blessings, Rev. Linda
