CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATES

OFFERTORY WEEKEND OF MAR. 22nd

Regular Offertory: $ 7,195.00

Total: $ 7,195.00*

*Thanks to a $5,000 donation from a very generous

parishioner

Thank you very much for your continuing support and

generosity.

There are four ways of giving to St. Patrick’s

Church:

1. Making contributions through your bank in person

or online or through online giving on our website .

2. Making gifts to church of appreciated securities.

3. Making a one time or an annual end of the year gift.

4. Establishing a legacy gift as part of one’s estate plan-

ning.

The income tax charitable deduction is one of the few deductions left un- der the new tax law. Are you required to take a minimum distribution (RMD) from your IRA? If yes, then you can make a gift to our capital campaign di- rectly from your IRA. It counts towards your RMD, but your gift will not be taxed because it will not be included in your income on your tax returns. It’s easy - just ask your IRA custodian to make a gift (Qualified Charitable Distribution) directly to St. Patrick Church. Consult with your tax advisor as to the RMD re-quirements as recent changes in the tax law have taken place. Prior to 2020, RMDs from IRA accounts were re-quired to begin in the year the individual turned 70 1/2. Beginning in 2020, however, the new age at which RMDs must start is 72. RMDs for individuals who turned 70 1/2 in 2019, or had already turned 70 1/2, remain the same for tax year 2020. Whenever you are considering any action which effects your taxes, you should consult with your personal advisors. PLEASE NOTE: Campaign payments can be sent to the office at any time. Thank you for your commitment to our addition!

ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL In these trying times, the need of our surrounding community

grows and the assistance provided by the Appeal becomes all

the more crucial. If you have not yet made your gift to this year’s

Appeal, please consider doing so in the days ahead. Your gift to

the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal will help continue the vital ser-

vices, ministries and programs that help so many throughout

our Archdiocese.

All funds contributed to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal are

used exclusively for the purposes outlined in the Appeal litera-

ture, which can be found at archdiocesofhartford.org/appeal/.

No Appeal funds are ever used for legal fees or settlements.

If you would like your tax

contributions for 2019, please

call or email the Parish Office to

request it. Statements are not

sent out unless requested. Thank you for your

anticipated cooperation.

Church of St. Patrick Responds to COVID-19

As a result of the significant spread of the coronavirus, the

Church of St. Patrick urges you to consider the following

three suggestions:

1. Practice common sense measures as outlined by the

CDC and Federal Government;

2. Continue your personal and spiritual practices at home,

including praying for those infected by this virus. We

will be live-streaming the 9:30 Mass each Sunday for

you to watch on our Facebook page: The Church of St.

Patrick Farmington, CT;

3. Switch your weekly giving to secure online giving by vis-

iting stpatsfarm.org or dropping off or mailing in your

envelope.

Stay tuned for more announcements by visiting our website

and/or Facebook page.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (CCD)

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER Liturgy of the Word for Children is celebrated every Sunday

at the 9:30 & 11:30 Masses. We will hopefully resume the

weekend of April 4-5.

All remaining CCD classes have been cancelled until

further notice.

All Religious Education Classes have been cancelled.

The teaching will now fall on the shoulders of the

parents of the children. It can be a time of renewal of

faith in families and for parents, who will learn right

along with their children. This may be a blessing in

disguise. Parents are asked to come into the church

hall to pick up the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies along with

other materials we have put out for the Season of Lent:

Stations of the Cross for Children booklets, How to

Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Praying with

Pretzels and How to Pray the Rosary, as well as rosaries.

The Lord brings good out of every dark season, and if

this challenging and concerning time leads to families

praying at home together, reading Bible stories

together, and having faith conversations, then that

would be a gift and a blessing! This is the perfect time

to help families turn to God for peace and comfort; and

it an ideal time to ramp up what we can to resource

families digitally. Try this at home, it’s an amazing way

to learn!

Corporal Works of Mercy Collections

The Corporal Works of Mercy Collections will be postponed until after Easter. We will put a reminder in the upcoming bulletins as to what the collections are and the items requested as soon as we resume regular Mass schedules. Thank you for your patience and your continued generosity to these important Works of Mercy!

It’s Rice Bowl Time Again!

CRS (Catholic Relief Services) offers every Catholic a program for

Lent built on the Lenten Pillars of Prayer, Fast and Abstinence.

This world-wide outreach helps people in third-world countries

learn to grow their own food and be able to take care of their

families. Simple sacrifices can lead to helping the poor through-

out the world have a better life for their families. Please return

the Rice Bowl on Easter Sunday and celebrate how your self-

sacrifice has made a difference in the life of another family.

Thank you for your spirit of generosity!

In our young adult world, it’s not

hard to find reason to become

anxious about the future: student

be known for? Or are we called to hope in something

greater? To hope in Someone greater? On June 13th,

join Crossroads4Christ in finding our Reason for Hope in

the person of Jesus Christ and learn how to share this

Hope with the world. We will have a full day filled with

inspiring keynotes, practical breakout sessions, opportu-

nities for spiritual nourishment, ample time to connect

with other young adults, and amazing entertainment to

cap off the night. Open to all young adults between the

ages of 18-39; scholarships are available! If you are not

a young adult, we invite you to help us share this event

and consider donating a scholarship ticket! Visit

tration. Register now - early bird pricing ends on March
