Renovate your loan to remodel your home.
When you’re selling your home, fi rst impressions are everything. Before the digital age, the fi rst impression of a home was known as “curb appeal.” These days, fi rst impressions are usually
formed online. As more homebuyers start their house hunting on the internet now, achieving that “online curb appeal” is a crucial part of selling your home.Things you can do:PRUNING AND PLANTINGHire a professional landscape designer (not just a landscaper). Nothing defeats the curb appeal of a home like overgrown trees, shrubs or vines. Landscape designers know how to trim trees the right way to get the ideal shape. Every year stand back and look at your house. Have you chosen the right shrubs? Are they getting too big? If you can’t see the house, they’re not going to buy it.Using your own furniture could be a mistake! Talk to Terrie. She will help you decide what stays and what goes. This mistake could cost you $50,000 - $100,000 from your home sales price. This takes experience in design which Terrie has from paint colors to lighting to furniture
placement. And you thought the only thing a broker did was sell a house? Not all brokers are created equal.CLEAN, POLISH AND DECLUTTERGet a good pressure wash. A pressure wash is a cost-effective way to get an all over “clean appeal” that will give your home the appearance of impeccable clean right down to the house numbers. Fresh paint on the door and trim, a new porch light fi xture and colorful but tidy landscaping are other easy exterior enhancements that may appeal to potential buyers at fi rst glance. Also make sure gardening supplies and all outdoor clutter is stored away out of sight.Once you’re confi dent your home has achieved its best curb appeal, both online and in person, try putting your home in its best light with well-placed walkway and landscaping lighting for a fi nal, fi nishing touch for that great fi rst impression. If you still have questions about your home’s curb appeal, you can always talk to Terrie. If you are thinking of selling and would like a competitive market analysis of your home, contact Terrie Cox. Quail CharitiesIt is not oen that I make a plea for help. I am going to in this article. It takes hands on workers to make our stu a reality. Locally, regionally and nationally we are on a verge of facing a severe worker shortage. We have an aging country. Many of our crasmen do not have someone to
mentor to take over their cra. is article is not about the reasons as to why, it is about what we can do locally to help
with this pending potential crisis.First, let’s be
aware that this is real. Simple research will be eye opening for those interested.Second, we can do something about it.We have set up a 501c3 charitable organization named Quail Charities to help with this task. We will be focused on helping make vocational training and mentorships ‘HIP’. I oen ask myself, “Why do young people work in food trucks, microbreweries but not in the trades?” I think hipness has something to do with it. Working with your hands making something with pride is hip. We just don’t talk about it. I am rm believer that not all kids are built for the traditional college route. Many kids in junior high and high school are not exposed to the benets of getting educated
in the trades. We want to help. We would like your help.I have spent a great deal of time thinking about what we can do to help. Next week’s article I will go into more detail. I think enough people know about the problem. Not enough think they can do something about it.Our Model Home (7909 NE 78th Street—across from Crossroads Church) is open Fridays-Mondays from 10a-4p. I will be holding one of our Quail Cottages at Quail Grove open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4pm.If you are thinking about downsizing…. Consider Quail…. you’ve earned it!!I hope this helps and thank you for reading the newspaper.

FURNITURE
After a long winter outdoors, you
may need to freshen up your
furniture a bit. First, try cleaning it.
Try a mix of 2 cups of white vinegar
to 2 tablespoons of dish soap. Spot
test it first to make sure the
solution doesn’t ruin any fabrics or
finishes. If you’re good to go, work
it into the hard surfaces with a
stiff-bristled brush and rinse well.
You can also use this solution on
cushions and umbrellas (again,
spot test first) with a softer brush.
If a good wash doesn’t work, maybe it’s time for a fresh coat of paint. Take your cleaned furniture to an open, well-ventilated space and opt for an outdoor spray paint that’s appropriate to your furniture’s material. If you’re painting metal furniture, look for a paint that inhibits rust. For plastic, make sure the paint you pick will adhere to plastics. While matte finishes are in, glossy finishes are easier to clean. Your local home store offers a variety of paints, colors and finishes to choose from.
MADE IN THE SHADE
Throw the best kind of shade —
the kind you can sip a lovely
beverage under. Look beyond the
umbrella at sunsails, awnings,
canopies and more. Some more
complex installs, like a retractable
awning, may require professional
installation. But there are easier
solutions you can do yourself, like
a sail or a canopy. Just make sure
your shady solution is securely
fastened so it doesn’t blow away in
a summer storm.
PICK A PECK OF POTS
Get creative with containers,
textures and blooms in your patio
space. Choose plants with leaves
and blooms that complement the
colors of your furniture and
cushions.
If your thumb is a lighter shade
of green, ask the pros at your
garden center to help you pick
easy-care plants that can stand up
to the weather in your area.
Patio PerfectNow that warmer weather its here, it’s time to get outside and get your
patio ready for morning coffee, solo time with a book or a big dinner
with friends and family. Keep reading for more tips on creating the
perfect outdoor space to fit your needs and your budget.
