Back in the mid 80s when I lived in Buies Creek, NC, our pastor included a written prayer as a bulletin insert. I kept it and still have it. I re- read it periodically to see if I can still pray it and mean it. It is entitled Can You Pray This Prayer? Those of you who were in the 8:30 worship service on February 19 heard this prayer when I concluded the sermon with it. I intended to include it in the 10:55 service also, but I must have been a little long winded and ran out of time. Several people from the early service have asked for copies of it. Evidently it was as meaningful to them as it was for me when I heard it years ago in Buies Creek, so I am printing it here. You might want to do what I did; cut it out, keep it, return to it often, and ask, Can I still pray this prayer and mean it? Dear God, You can change me any way You want to change me. You can take out of me whatever You want to remove. If there are some relationships with certain people that You want me to end because they are sinful, I am ready to end them. If there are some sinful pleasures of the flesh that I have become addicted to, I am ready to be released from them. If there are feelings of anger and envy and hate and lust within me, I am willing to let them go. If there are some relationships that are sour, I am willing to do whatever you want me to do to make them right. If there are attitudes that you want to change, I am willing for them to be changed. If there are some hurts that I have nursed for years, I am willing for them to be healed. If there are people I need to forgive I will forgive them. Dear God, all of my money and possessions are Yours. You can send me wherever You want me to go, to do whatever You want me to do, to say whatever You want me to say, and to be whatever you want me to be. I will pick up whatever cross you ask me to carry. I am surrendered to Your will. Cleanse me, change me, and through Your Holy Spirit help me to be in Christ, and for Christ to be in me. Dear God, please fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Amen. Challenging, isnt it? It should be. Following Christ, really following Christ, is a challenge and a daily decision. But as challenging and scary as the next step in obedience to Gods Spirit can be, we know that it is always best for us to yield to His Lordship in our lives. Praying this prayer, and meaning it, will keep us in His fold, following Him who will never leave us or forsake us. Happy praying! Back in the mid 80’s when I lived in Buies Creek, NC, our pastor included a written prayer as a bulletin insert. I kept it and still have it. I re-read it periodically to see if I can still pray it and mean it. It is entitled “Can You Pray This Prayer?” Those of you who were in the 8:30 worship service on February 19 heard this prayer when I concluded the sermon with it. I intended to include it in the 10:55 service also, but I must have been a little long winded and ran out of time. Several people from the early service have asked for copies of it. Evidently it was as meaningful to them as it was for me when I heard it years ago in Buies Creek, so I am printing it here. You might want to do what I did; cut it out, keep it, return to it often,

and ask, “Can I still pray this prayer and mean it? Dear God, You can change me any way You want to change me. You can take out of me whatever You want to remove. MUSICAL NOTES The North Carolina Baptist Singers and

Orchestra at FBC It has been quite a while since the North Carolina Baptist Singers and Orchestra has performed in the western part of the state. On Monday, March 5, First Baptist will be hosting this group of over 100 Baptist musicians from across our state. They gather together only six times a year to rehearse all day and give a worship concert in the evening. The prelude begins at 6:45pm. The concert begins at 7:00pm and lasts about seventy-five minutes. These musicians travel at their own expense and give of their own personal time to make music together to the glory of God. Joining the Singers during the concert will be members from four area Baptist church choirs and our own children's choirs. This will be a glorious evening of musical worship. You will not want to miss it! In fact, bring your friends and neighbors to this great outreach opportunity. Arrive early as we anticipate a packed house. The sanctuary doors will open at 5:30pm.

New to our church family: As you see these NEW MEMBERS around FBC, be sure to welcome them to our family.

I want to thank everyone (all 125 of you!) that gave me your "Sticky Faith" sticky note a few Sundays ago. You've taken the first step in partnering with our student ministry to help insure that our students’ faith will stick after they graduate. Over the next few months you will begin to hear more about this process and the many different areas that you can

contribute. On behalf of our students, their parents, and their future, we want to thank you again. If you want to purchase the Sticky Faith book, please visit the student ministry web page. FBC.cc/students - Chris Gillespie
