1 John 3:17-18 ESV

“But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

May we honor the Lord in everything we do.

The Lord has opened up a great opportunity for us to serve and love our neighbors:

On Saturday, August 11th, we will be hosting our first medical outreach program in our area called “The Yucaipa Medical/Dental Mobil Clinic.” It will be held at Set Free Christian Fellowship, 13700 Calimesa Blvd. Yucaipa. We will provide basic medical exams, dental cleaning, fillings, extractions, and x-rays. We have the medical staff and the necessary equipment ready to go. We are in need of volunteers to assist the medical staff and to minister to the waiting public. We are providing this service free to the public and are in need of your financial support as well.

Please be in prayer for us as we reach out to the community and share the Love of our Savior Jesus Christ in a very real way.

Leaders are change managers: Part 2

Change Managers manage change: do it and do it right

For change to be successful it must be managed. The working knowledge of change management in any organization plays an important role. Productive change is not easy. Change management must be part of the strategic plan.

Managing change in an organization requires knowledge and skill. It begins with knowing your people. Man-agers must understand the people with whom they work. But beyond that they must also know those who are associated with the church but who are outside the inner circle of direct leadership.

Take the congregation’s change temperature. It is important to know how the organization reacts to major and minor adjustments in general. Go for specifics but not necessarily the alterations that are in the planning process. Using this knowledge of potential concerns to change in general and with organizational input concerning apprehension about a specific change, the leader must anticipate the church’s reaction to the proposed change.

Plan to do it right. Using analytical skills, the information gained from congregational interaction, and your knowledge of the likely reaction to change in your leadership, with the help and counsel of the staff or your spiritual inner circle, develop a planned strategy of communication and implementation. Put your change management team together, plan a strategy, make sure everyone is on the same page, and execute your plan with love and concern for others.

Blessings to all! As always my prayer and hope is that you find yourself enjoying the many blessings of

God yet have enough problems in life to keep you desperately dependent upon God! I would like to ask

in this month’s article that you simply pray for us in your personal and church’s times of prayer. It is

amazing to see how God works in over 200 churches in our Association. It is a true honor to come

alongside of them in the various outreaches, ministries and even struggles that they each go through.

We hold in high value both the opportunities you entrust to us and the resources you send our way on a

regular basis. However, we like all, stand in need of God’s power, discernment, and strength as we

engage God’s Kingdom work from our perspective. The reminder in the book of Acts that this is the church that “Christ

purchased with His own blood.” That truth is a constant reminder of the seriousness of the ministry as we deal with the

spiritual matters in individuals, spiritual leaders, and church lives. I, most of all, along with our staff stand daily in

desperate need of your prayers and ask that you graciously include us as you come before our heavenly father!

EQUIPPED FOR EXCELLENCE

It’s time to start planning for EQUIPPED FOR EXCELLENCE. This is a great opportunity to train and inspire your

workers. I can’t think of a better way to motivate your workers to greater commitment and effectiveness than by bring-

ing them all to EQUIPPED FOR EXCELLENCE. Take a look at the yellow publicity packet, or our website,

www.equippedforexcellence.org. You will find a course description for each of the forty conferences. Remember,

there are conferences for most any interest or need. Some of them include: How to Make Changes without Being Fired,

Mobilize for Spiritual Warfare, Avoiding and Reversing Decline in Your Church, three conferences on discipleship and

a conference especially for youth. If your registration is postmarked by April 9, 2012, you will receive a $5.00 dis-

count. The same applies to those who register online by midnight April 9th. Another publicity packet will be mailed the first week or two

of March. In the second packet, several names of conference leaders have been added or changed.

Sunday School Director’s Meeting

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 20th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. We will meet at the association office. Our topic will be on the

subject of evaluating the Sunday School. During the first hour we will talk about how to evaluate your Sunday School ministry as a

whole and the second hour we will narrow it down to evaluating the effectiveness of your adult teachers. The same conference will be

offered in Spanish and English. Refreshments will be served.

Vacation Bible School

Check the weather report and your weight and balance, do your pre-flight checklist and get ready to take off for AMAZING WONDERS!

Our V.B.S. this year will fly around the world to explore God’s awesome power in creation. Our V.B.S. clinic will be on Saturday, May

19th at Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church. It will run from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Bring your entire flight crew (V.B.S. team) and

join in the fun.

Thank you!

Laura Mae Leach would like to thank everyone for their prayers during her recent illness. She is doing very well and the entire process is

almost over.

Set Free Highland ZerOed in on Missions

Set Free Highland started in the past year when Pastor Jesse and his wife Joly felt God calling them to start

a church. Pastor Jesse had attended Set Free Riverside while also taking classes through the church on

becoming a pastor. The church was officially started in May of 2011 with the help of the Inland Empire Bap-

tist Association, as well as the other Set Free Ministries. From May to December, Set Free Highland has

baptized 50 people and continues to baptize people every Saturday. Their services are held on Thursday

and Saturdays. God has given Pastor Jesse a heart to evangelize and reach out to the lost, which is what

the 100 members of Set Free Highland are all about. They meet in downtown San

Bernardino, which is not a wealthy area. One of the areas of their focus is reaching

out to different apartment complexes in their area. They pass out flyers door to door

twice a week, and also hold an outreach once a month at the different complexes.

The managers allow Set Free Highland to come in and set up a band, pray for peo-

ple, serve food, and give testimonies. They also hold dance competitions for the kids

in which the top three winners get prizes of ten, fifteen, and twenty dollars. Many of

the people in these apartments are struggling with drug and alcohol addictions, and

they are not in the safest areas, and the managers of the apartments do not like to

come out of their office. They also have a high turn-over rate, so the church is wit-

nessing to new families every few months. Another ministry of Set Free Highland is

food and clothing giveaways. The food is donated from Set Free Yucaipa, Set Free

Riverside, and Joseph’s Storehouse in Redlands. There are about 30 people that

come weekly and get bread, yogurt, milk, top ramen, cheese, and on

Saturdays they can get vegetables. The clothes are donated from the

Set Free Yucaipa thrift store. 30 bags of clothes last about 2 weeks,

as it is a big need in the community. You can keep Set Free Highland

in prayer as Pastor Jesse has a desire to serve God, and wants to

keep all of their ministries going. They always have a need for more

food and clothes for their ministry. Pray that God continually provides,

and if you know of where they could get more clothes donated, or if

you want to help you can contact the Association at 951-784-2655.

Imagine Church is looking for stage lights, par cans, a dimmer

pack and light board for their service. If you any of these

available for purchase or to donate please

contact Nick Seybert at 909.496.4562
