B. In a compound noun plural with preposi ons or adverbs, we added “s” to the fi rst noun generally.

passer-by – passers-by
runner-up – runners-up
But in:
errand-boy – errand-boys

For example: “half brothers” or “sergeants major” or “post offi ces.”
D. The “s” can also be added at the end such as in the case of “six-packs” of soda.
E. In compound nouns that include the words man and woman, the two words go into plural:

CURIOSITY
H T W I ?
The World Islands is a man-made resort island several miles wide which were constructed off the coast of Dubai. Three are shaped like date palm trees and another group of islands look like a world map. It consists of 300 small private ar fi cial islands which are divided into four categories: private homes, estate homes, dream resorts and community islands. It is located 4 kilometers off the shore of Jumeirah. The only means of transporta on are by marine, air transport and by boat.
This group of islands is an ambi ous project that has long been cri cized by environment ac vists who states that the construc on damages the coral reefs and shi s the water currents.
Some celebri es were expected to buy some of these islands to guarantee the success of such project but it was set that the islands are sinking due to deteriora on and erosion. The islands are gradually falling back into the ocean.
