Adelaide Moriah Christiana was born October 20 at 9:18 a.m., and she is just beautiful. We are proud of our son and daughter-in-law, Jeremiah & Shawna, way to go! And we’re proud of Adelaide’s two older sisters, Aneko (7) and Aubriella (3) for giving such a great new welcome to their new baby sister. We are so happy to have three granddaughters now, and to see and experience the Lord faithfully growing our family. We pray for each of you as you read our newsletter this month that the Lord will minister to you in a special way of strengthening in your families. As always, thanks for reading and for allowing us to keep in touch with you all! - Love, The Marcums A visit to “The Prayer Furnace” On November 1-3, Joy and I (Jim) traveled to Norman, OK and were able to meet many of the precious people there who are leading and staffing the “Norman Prayer Furnace.” One of the students from our IHOPU discipleship group last year, Joshua Lee, is doing his externship there at The Prayer Furnace this semester, so he arranged for us to visit. Joshua is also dating Joy, so it was extra special to get to visit him (smile). Upon arriving Sunday around 4 p.m., we went to our host homes to settle in a bit, and then went to home fellowship group around 5:30. The Norman Prayer Furnace is a ministry of Norman Community Church a local church in Norman which is made up of 6 “home fellowships” which meet in various homes throughout the week, and come together once a month for a Sunday celebration. We attended a home fellowship called “The Neighborhood” (each one has a name, a couple of the others are “Torch” and “Glory House”). They have a great website at www.normcom.com where you can learn about their model of gathering as home fellowships, doing the monthly celebrations, and fueling the Prayer Furnace together. It is an awesome vision! We spent both Monday and Tuesday mornings participating in prayer & worship sets at the Prayer Furnace; Joy even got to lead a couple! Their purpose statement is: “The ‘Prayer Furnace’ is a place where people from the city of Norman gather together to intercede for the church and the city. We gather corporately to agree with God in prayer, declaring who He is and proclaiming His desire for the city of Norman.” The externs from IHOPU were helping lead, as well as some local interns and staff. People from the community were there joining in the prayers. At times when there are not live prayer & worship sets going on, the Global Prayer Room is streamed live from IHOPKC. We are aware of many houses of prayer, churches, and ministries that do this, and it’s so rewarding to know that what we’re contending for in prayer in KC is going throughout the U.S. and around the world, and is strengthening the Body of Christ! On Monday afternoon, we did a special “assignment” from the Lord. A few days before leaving for Norman, I was praying in the Global Prayer Room and felt the Lord strongly impress upon me that abortion was a stronghold in Norman, that there was an abortion clinic there and that I was to go and pray in front of the clinic and speak LIFE over Norman. After some investigating, I discovered that the abortion clinic in Norman has been operated by the same doctor and his wife for 40 years! It is blatantly named “The Abortion Surgery Center,” and statistics have been reported that over the past 40 years, this abortion doctor (Dr. Larry Burns) has performed over half the abortions in the State of Oklahoma. Currently, this clinic does almost TWO TIMES the number of abortions done at the clinic in Tulsa (the only other abortion clinic in Oklahoma). On Monday afternoon, Joy and Joshua and I went and prayed on the sidewalk in front of The Abortion Surgery Center, declaring LIFE over Norman and an end to abortion there. I also made contact with the 40 Days for Life group in Norman, and went by and talked with some staff at the Eden Clinic the Christian pregnancy resource center in Norman. The deception and darkness is great over the abortion doctor and his wife in Norman, as we found out they consider themselves “Christians” and have attended church for many years. A recent study in America indicates that nearly 60% of those having abortions do consider themselves “Christians,” so it is not surprising in some ways that this abortion doctor and his wife claim to be as well. However, it is another sad and tragic sign that the “church” in America is in need of prayer, repentance, and an awakening!

The Marcum Family/Ministry News – November 2015 –

Dear Friends & Family,

Our first bit of exciting news is that we have a new addition to the family!

Adelaide Moriah Christiana was born October 20 at 9:18 a.m., and she is just

beautiful. We are proud of our son and daughter-in-law, Jeremiah & Shawna, way

to go! And we’re proud of Adelaide’s two older sisters, Aneko (7) and Aubriella (3)

for giving such a great new welcome to their new baby sister. We are so happy to have

three granddaughters now, and to see and experience the Lord faithfully growing

our family. We pray for each of you as you read our newsletter this month that the

Lord will minister to you in a special way of strengthening in your families. As

always, thanks for reading and for allowing us to keep in touch with you all!

A visit to “The Prayer Furnace”

On November 1-3, Joy and I (Jim) traveled to Norman, OK and were able to meet many of the precious people there who

are leading and staffing the “Norman Prayer Furnace.” One of the students from our IHOPU discipleship group last year,

Joshua Lee, is doing his externship there at The Prayer Furnace this semester, so he arranged for us to visit. Joshua is also

dating Joy, so it was extra special to get to visit him (smile).

Upon arriving Sunday around 4 p.m., we went to our host homes to settle

in a bit, and then went to home fellowship group around 5:30. The Norman

Prayer Furnace is a ministry of Norman Community Church – a local church

in Norman which is made up of 6 “home fellowships” which meet in various

homes throughout the week, and come together once a month for a Sunday

celebration. We attended a home fellowship called “The Neighborhood”

(each one has a name, a couple of the others are “Torch” and “Glory House”).

They have a great website at www.normcom.com where you can learn about

their model of gathering as home fellowships, doing the monthly celebrations,

and fueling the Prayer Furnace together. It is an awesome vision!

We spent both Monday and Tuesday mornings participating in prayer & worship sets at the Prayer Furnace; Joy even got

to lead a couple! Their purpose statement is: “The ‘Prayer Furnace’ is a place where people from the city of Norman

gather together to intercede for the church and the city. We gather corporately to agree with God in prayer, declaring

who He is and proclaiming His desire for the city of Norman.” The externs from IHOPU were helping lead, as well as

some local interns and staff. People from the community were there joining in the prayers. At times when there are not live

prayer & worship sets going on, the Global Prayer Room is streamed live from IHOPKC. We are aware of many houses of

prayer, churches, and ministries that do this, and it’s so rewarding to know that what we’re contending for in prayer in KC is

going throughout the U.S. and around the world, and is strengthening the Body of Christ!

On Monday afternoon, we did a special “assignment” from the Lord. A few days before leaving for Norman, I was

praying in the Global Prayer Room and felt the Lord strongly impress upon me that abortion was a stronghold in Norman,

that there was an abortion clinic there – and that I was to go and pray in front of the clinic and speak LIFE over Norman.

After some investigating, I discovered that the abortion clinic in Norman has been operated by the same doctor and his wife

for 40 years! It is blatantly named “The Abortion Surgery Center,” and statistics have been reported that over the past 40

years, this abortion doctor (Dr. Larry Burns) has performed over half the abortions in the State of Oklahoma. Currently, this

clinic does almost TWO TIMES the number of abortions done at the clinic in Tulsa (the only other abortion clinic in

Oklahoma). On Monday afternoon, Joy and Joshua and I went and prayed on the sidewalk in front of The Abortion Surgery

Center, declaring LIFE over Norman and an end to abortion there. I also made contact with the 40 Days for Life group in

Norman, and went by and talked with some staff at the Eden Clinic – the Christian pregnancy resource center in Norman.

The deception and darkness is great over the abortion doctor and his wife in Norman, as we found out they consider

themselves “Christians” and have attended church for many years. A recent study in America indicates that nearly 60% of

those having abortions do consider themselves “Christians,” so it is not surprising in some ways that this abortion doctor and

his wife claim to be as well. However, it is another sad and tragic sign that the “church” in America is in need of prayer,

repentance, and an awakening!

On Tuesday afternoon before we left to drive back to KC, I did some prayer walking at the University of Oklahoma

(OU) which is in Norman. There are around 30,000 students at this university. I made my way to the center of the campus

which has a large outdoor area where students gather between classes. I noticed some type of display, and when I went to

see what it was I discovered that a Christian pro-life group from Wichita was on campus that day! They are “Justice for

All” and they target college campuses with a pro-life exhibit, and trained people who engage in conversations with students.

The area around the exhibit was filled with students engaged in conversations. I made a good contact with one of the

leaders, and have since heard from their executive director. Here are some pictures from our trip to Norman:

Commissioning Evangelists & Gospel Workers

We were overjoyed to be invited to take part in a commissioning service recently

with the Kansas City Evangelism Fellowship. KCEF began as an outreach

department of IHOPKC, and they are one of the most vibrant communities at our

Missions Base. They offer continuing training in evangelism, and recently began

an internship which, upon graduation, ends with a commissioning service.

Twelve “evangelists” and “workers in the harvest” were commissioned out of this

first internship. The youngest was 14, and the oldest was 72! We heard them all

speak, and it was so motivating to hear from these with hearts beating for the lost.

A WONDERFUL VICTORY!

We have an awesome testimony to share as we close the newsletter this month. On Thursday, Oct 22, Jim was praying

on the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood in Overland Park along with his prayer partner, Tony. That day, we had

decided to anoint the ground with oil and pray cleansing over the land, so Tony brought some oil and we poured it out at

both of the entries/exits. The Lord had spoken from the book of Ezekiel a word saying to “mark well the entrances and

exits.” As we anointed the back entry/exit and prayed, we noticed a young woman some distance away in the parking lot

pacing and talking on her phone. We see this kind of thing often, so we began to fervently pray together (she could not hear

us) for this young woman to choose life. We went around to the front entry/exit for awhile to anoint the ground and pray,

and when we returned to the back one (we park near there) the young woman was still in the parking lot. We stopped to

pray a few minutes more, and she approached us and asked if we were “protesters.” We began to explain that we were there

to pray, but she interrupted to say, “I’m asking because I want to tell you … I just cancelled my procedure.” We were

overjoyed! We began to encourage her that she had done the right thing and that she was showing such courage, and she

became emotional. We asked if we could pray for her, and as we began to pray over her and her child, she began to weep.

The Spirit of the Lord was so present. After prayer, we found out she lives in Grandview, so we were able to give her

information for contacting The Women’s Clinic there. We stayed with her until her ride came. What a VICTORY! And a

little added touch from the Lord on this story – she told us her name was “Toria,” which is short for “Victoria.” Praise God!

FINAL WORD: We have run out of room, but want to wish everyone a wonderful HOLIDAY season this year! We do not send out a December newsletter, but we will be in touch again in January. We do want to invite those who can to join us for our year-end worship conference – ONETHING 2015, Dec 28-31. You can get all the information and register at www.ihopkc.org/onething. It will be an awesome time in God’s presence, and we’d love to see you there!!

Because He is worthy of it all,
