Beyond the Mormon Moment: The Future of Public AffairsTRANSCRIPT
Beyond the Mormon MomentThe Future of Public Affairs
“there is a sense among many church
members that historians of the future
will look back on 2012, not as the
eclipse of a “Mormon Moment,” but as
the beginning of the real emergence of
American Mormons, with all of their
distinctiveness, into the rich mosaic of
American religious life.”
Taking advantage of “the Mormon Paradigm”
Our approach has been to use this period of attention and visibility as a catalyst, or sling shot, to accelerate the things we would normally do as part of the Church’s work - our relationship building, our messages, our communications tools, and every other aspect of our work…
Taking advantage of “the Mormon Paradigm”
… so that when the political season is over, we will be left with lasting friendships and will be better equipped to continue moving forward.
Taking advantage of “the Paradigm”
It would have taken many, many years to develop the kind of relationships we now have with other church leaders, with the media and other influencers had the political campaign not forced open those doors which were so long closed.
Public Affairs Core Purpose
To build strategic relationships with opinion leaders who affect the reputation of the Church of Jesus Christ, and whose actions and influence can help or hinder the Church’s mission.
