Iberian Wolf
The Iberian Wolf lives in northem Portugal and it is a species that inhabits
forests and plains. The causes of its decline are the direct persecution and extermination
of their wild prey. The current decline is exacerbated by the fragmentation and
destruction of its habitat and the increasing number of stray dogs.
Iberian Lynx
The Iberian lynx is a critically endangered species native to the Iberian Peninsula in
Southern Europe.
As a result of habitat lost and the scarcity of wild rabbit, this species has an extremely
fragmented distribution in our country.
Mediterranean Monk SealIt is present in parts of the Mediterranean Sea and the eastern Atlantic Ocean
waters around the Tropic of Cancer.
This species is endangered due to fishing, the incidental capture in fishing gear,
reduced food availability, habitat destruction and pollution. Other threats to the
Mediterranean monk seal include diseases and poisonous algae.
Dolphin
The dolphins are an endangered species due to the action of the fishermen who
fish or kill them deliberately to ensure the abundance of theirs fish stocks. Other causes are
the climate changes, exotic diseases and lost and fragmentation of their habitats.
