NJ Residents Think Alcohol is More Dangerous than Marijuana

•  59 percent think alcohol is more dangerous than marijuana. •  19 percent think alcohol

and marijuana are equally dangerous. •  18 percent think

marijuana is more dangerous.

NJ Residents Think Tobacco is More Dangerous than Marijuana

•  58 percent think tobacco is more dangerous than pot •  19 percent think tobacco

& marijuana are equally dangerous •  21 percent think

marijuana is more dangerous than tobacco.

Some NJ Residents Favor Marijuana Legalization

•  48 percent want to see marijuana legalized. •  But only 36 percent

think that legal marijuana is a “good idea”.

Other NJ Residents Oppose Marijuana Legalization

•  47 percent oppose legalized marijuana. •  45 percent of all

respondents think legal marijuana is a “bad idea”. •  6 percent had no

opinion.

Older NJ Residents Oppose Marijuana Legalization

•  Attitudes toward marijuana in NJ reflect generational differences.

•  51 percent of residents over 55 oppose legalization, while 43 percent of NJ residents polled support legalization.

•  39 percent of those age 18 – 34 said they oppose legalization, while 57 percent support legalization.

NJ Men Favor Marijuana Legalization

• More New Jersey men are in favor of legalization than women, according to the survey.

•  56 percent of New Jersey men said they support legalizing marijuana, while 39 percent oppose.

• New Jersey women weren’t as supportive: 39 percent said they support legalizing marijuana, while 54 percent oppose.

Republicans Don’t Want Legal Marijuana in NJ

•  Republicans are the least supportive political group: 61 percent of Republicans oppose legalization, while 37 percent support.

Democrats May Approve of Legal Marijuana in NJ

•  45 percent of Democrats said they oppose legalization, while 49 percent support.

Independents are Split on the Legalization Issue

•  42 percent of Independents said they oppose legalization, while 51 percent support.
