It was chosen because of St Marcellin Champagnats unwavering faith in Gods ways. He truly believed that he could do all things through Jesus and his Mother Mary. In their introduction, House Leaders Diana Foliaki, Angeline Tulilo-Sialata and Hannah Brown said: St Marcellin Champagnat was born in France in 1789, the year of the French Revolution and lived a simple life. He did not attend school until the age of 11, and his first experience of school was not a good one. Although gifted with natural intelligence, Marcellins lack of formal education caused him to struggle as a student. However, he kept going and he was determined to succeed. Marcellin Champagnat was ordained a priest in 1816. Marcellin Champagnats experience at school and his own academic struggles were the basis of his educational philosophy: To educate children you must love them and love them all equally. To realise this vision he founded the Marist Brothers in 1817 and dedicated his entire life teaching young people. Marcellin Champagnat died in 1840. He was made a saint in 1999. Marcellin Champagnats life is a marvellous witness to the fact that he trusted God to show him the way. We too have faced challenges in our life that makes us worry, makes us doubt our choices but in everything we do, we must place our complete trust in God, just like Marcellin Champagnat and know that all things are achievable through him. We ask God for wisdom and courage to put our unending trust in him, and in turn inspire others to do the same just like Marcellin Champagnat. At the Mass celebrant Fr Kevin Murphy used the following acrostic to describe the qualities of Marcellin Champagnat that we aspire to: Principal

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The theme chosen for the Champagnat House Mass this year was Trust in God. It was chosen because of St Marcellin Champagnat’s unwavering faith in God’s ways. He truly believed that he could do all things through Jesus and his Mother Mary. In their introduction, House Leaders Diana Foliaki, Angeline Tulilo-Sialata and Hannah Brown said:

‘St Marcellin Champagnat was born in France in 1789, the year of the French Revolution and lived a simple life. He did not attend school until the age of 11, and his first experience of school was not a good one. Although gifted with natural intelligence, Marcellin’s lack of formal education caused him to struggle as a student. However, he kept going and he was determined to succeed. Marcellin Champagnat was ordained a priest in 1816.

Marcellin Champagnat’s experience at school and his own academic struggles were the basis of his educational philosophy: “To educate children you must love them and love them all equally.” To realise this vision he founded the Marist Brothers in 1817 and dedicated his entire life teaching young people. Marcellin Champagnat died in 1840. He was made a saint in 1999.

Marcellin Champagnat’s life is a marvellous witness to the fact that he trusted God to show him the way. We too have faced challenges in our life that makes us worry, makes us doubt our choices but in everything we do, we must place our complete trust in God, just like Marcellin Champagnat and know that all things are achievable through him.

We ask God for wisdom and courage to put our unending trust in him, and in turn inspire others to do the same just like Marcellin Champagnat.’

At the Mass celebrant Fr Kevin Murphy used the following acrostic to describe the qualities of Marcellin Champagnat that we aspire to:
