There is much discussion today in higher education around the topic of learninganalytics and its intersection of learning and educational technology At USF interestin the topic continues to emerge as faculty increase their use of technology both inthe classroom and online Platforms supporting teaching and learning such asCanvas and Echo360 generate meaningful data points as student and faculty usethe system In Canvas for instance instructors can view course analytics includingthe number of times a student logs in to a course the number of pages they viewand their participation in the course Course analytics can inform the instructor ofstudents who may be struggling in the course as well as students who are investingsignificant time in the course environment

Understanding Learning Analytics
There is much discussion today in higher education around the topic of learninganalytics and its intersection of learning and educational technology At USF interestin the topic continues to emerge as faculty increase their use of technology both inthe classroom and online Platforms supporting teaching and learning such asCanvas and Echo360 generate meaningful data points as student and faculty usethe system In Canvas for instance instructors can view course analytics includingthe number of times a student logs in to a course the number of pages they viewand their participation in the course Course analytics can inform the instructor ofstudents who may be struggling in the course as well as students who are investingsignificant time in the course environment
Beginning in the spring 2018 semester a Learning Analytics Learning Communitywill be forming to review the following
analysis of the course analytics tools in Canvasreview of current research in learning analytics theory and practiceaccess to interactive Canvas Analytics reporting tools to better understand how
