    MARKETABILITY OF SITES

    VANIYAMBADI

    Vaniyambadi is located at vellore district, Tamilnadu . The town lies on the

    highway (NH 46) of the Bangalore-Chennai section which is part of the

    Golden Quadrilateral Highways Project. As of 2001 India census

    Vaniyambadi had a population of 85,459. Vaniyambadi is well connected by

    road and rail to major cities of India. The town is separated by a distance

    with Chennai [199 km], Bangalore [144 km], Vellore [64 km] and Salem

    [139 km]. A State Highway connects the town to Tirupattur on the

    Vaniyambadi-Salem section. The town also has a railway station in the

    Chennai-Bangalore and Chennai-Salem sections.

    Leather tanning is a major industry of the town. Agriculture, especially

    coconut plantations, is the other major source of livelihood. The famous Hill

    station Yelagiri is about 25 km from the town. Vaniyambadi is famous for

    Biriyani. Asia's second largest telescope, Vainu Bappu Observatory of the

    Indian Institute of Astrophysics which is situated at Kavalur Village near

    Vaniyambadi, is also a major attraction.

    COIMBATORE

    Coimbatore District is one of the more affluent and industrially advanced

    districts of the state of Tamil Nadu in India. As per the 2001 census,

    Coimbatore had a population of 1,250,446 within Municipal Corporation

    limits. It has the highest GDP among the districts of Tamil Nadu, even ahead

    MADURAI

    Madurai is the third largest city Tamil Nadu with a population of over 1.2

    million (census2001). The city is the administrative headquarters of Madurai

    District. The 2001 census showed that the expanded city corporation had a

    population of 1,230,015 while that of the Madurai urban agglomeration was

    1.4 million. Madurai city is situated at a distance of 498 kilometres south-

    west of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. It is situated at a distance of 161

    kilometres from Tiruchirappalli, 367 kilometres from Coimbatore and 241

    kilometres north of Kanniyakumari.

    Madurai Airport is located 12 kilometers from the city. The airport has

    handled 3 lakhs passengers between the period Jan 2009 to Oct 2009 and it

    is approved for the unloading and loading of export and import baggage.In

    the past five years, Madurai has witnessed tremendous growth in

    TIRUCHIRAPALLI

    Tiruchirapalli District also known as Trichy District, is located along the

    Kaveri River in Tamil Nadu, India. The main town in Tiruchirapalli district lies

    at the heart of Tamil Nadu. Tiruchirappalli city is the administrative

    headquarters of Tiruchirappalli District. According to the 2001 census, the

    Tiruchirappalli had a population of 752,066. Tiruchirappalli metropolitan area

    constitutes the fourth largest metropolitan area in Tamil Nadu and the 47th

    in India.

    Tiruchirappalli is an important industrial and educational hub of central Tamil

    Nadu. The factories of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Heavy Alloy

    Penetrator Project and Golden Rock Railway Workshops are located in

    Tiruchirappalli. The National Institutes of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute

    of Management, Bharathidasan University and Anna University of Technology

    have their campuses in the city. Tiruchirappalli is well-connected by road,

    210 and NH 227 pass through the city.
