    Vacant seats in business schools in Karnataka: InKarnataka, there are 220 AICTE-approved collegesoffering MBA courses. Of these, 64 colleges havegiven up possession of their management seats to thegovernment. This comes to around 1,500, around 30per cent of which offering MBA in Bangalore havesurrendered their management seats to the

    government as they could not find takers for it.

    However in 2011 the number has dropped, only 1400seats were surrendered.

    In order to open a college, the association has to be registered as aeducational society under Act 21 of the Societies Recognition Act,

    1860 in order to start functioning.

    The society needs to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC)

    from the Directorate of Higher Education (Do HE). An NOC is an

    essential document certifying the requirement of a college in the

    particular zone, on the basis of which land is allotted to the society

    for the purpose of building a new college.

    After the college gets an NOC from (Do HE) it applies to the

    government for acquiring land meant for institutional purposes.

    Once the college is established, it has to be affiliated to a recognised

    university. The college has to comply with all the norms laid down

    by the university to get the affiliation. A fixed amount has to be paid

    to the university to get affiliation.

    be approved by the concerned council.

    Building plan of the Institution should have been prepared by an

    Architect registered with Council of Architecture and approved by

    the Competent Authority as designated by concerned State

    Degree in Business Administration or equivalent and 2 years relevant

    Experience is desirable.

    Ragging is totally prohibited inside or outside thecampus and anyone found guilty of ragging andabetting ragging whether actively or passively, orbeing a part of conspiracy to promote ragging, isliable to be punished in accordance with UGC

    Regulations 2009 as well as under the provisions ofany penal law for the time being in force.

    The students and parents have to furnish Anti RaggingAffidavit before joining the institute.

    The institute will also have a Anti Ragging Committeeand Anti Ragging Squad to monitor the same. Anyoneinvolved directly or indirectly is liable for strict actionas per the rules.
