“PRESS RELEASE”
Using Publisher, you’ll be required to design your own press release for “Central Pools”
Press Release-What to Consider1. Write a story that is of interest to the
readers/listeners/viewers. If you were reading a publication or listening to the radio show or watching TV, what would jump out and appeal to you? Answer that question and you’ve got the subject for your press release.
Example: . If you're targeting a late afternoon TV children show you need to think of a story that's of interest to children watching TV at that hour.
Press Release-What Else?!1. Have an “eye-catching” Headline/Title = Most
Important2. Illustrate accordingly3. Format your Press Release Correctly
4. Respect the “Golden Rules” for a press release. (see next page).
Golden Rules for formatting Press Releases
1. Make sure the headline is big and bold.2. Aim to fit the Press Release ON ONE PAGE.3. Use short paragraphs.4. Use language that will appeal to the type of
media that you are targeting. 5. Insert the words ‘For Immediate Release’ in

release For Example: ”Our CEO Alex Stevenson is available for
interview. He has appeared frequently on local/national media and is an excellent speaker. If you would like to arrange an interview or require any further information, please call on ….etc. ”
