Dr. Kathaleen Reid-Martinez has served as the provost and chief academic officer of Oral

Roberts University (ORU) since January 2014. She has more than 25 years of education

experience, including a strong background in leadership development, technology

acquisition, and online education. Her accomplishments include transforming quality

control of academic programs, spearheading rapid enrollment, and leading in the

acquisition, application, and integration for the advancement of learning. She has spoken

at global and regional training initiatives for leaders in education, business, government,

SESSION ONE: July 15-16 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pmMLI 103/MLI 203 Leadership from Within: Personal, Family, and Marriage LeadershipThis module will equip you with a biblical view of leadership from a personal, family, and marriage perspective that’s essential for every successful leader. Discover practical principles for strengthening the marriage relationship, for growing and developing the family, for serving in ministry, for advancing careers, and helping the local community. Dr. Boyd brings years of experience as a pastor and teacher to the course, as well as insightful case studies, practical wisdom, and scriptural reference. He will present a “whole person” approach to relationships, in which you explore the individual roles of the husband and wife, and the power of spiritual teamwork in light of societal changes.

SESSION TWO: July 17 -18 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pmMLI 106: Transforming Cities and Nations SupernaturallyThis module aims to inform and to impart both the knowledge and the anointing needed to build churches that will demonstrate the Kingdom of God and transform the Seven Mountains of Culture. Through Biblically sound instruction, you will receive eschatological understanding of the Kingdom dominion needed for transformation. Emphasis will be placed on the need for both revival and reformation for the transformation of a nation. You will also be introduced and exposed to the practical outworking of the Kingdom of God through the ecclesia (the Church) in exercising authority in legislating the spiritual atmospheres for transformation.

SESSION ONE: July 15-16 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pm MLI 107: Teaching and Preaching Competencies This module is designed to help you become a more dynamic and effective teacher and preacher of God’s Word. Topics within the module will include: “The Four Basic Aims of the Preacher;” “Sermon Preparation;” Effective use of Illustrations and Tips for Delivery;” as well as “The Why, What, and How of Expository Preaching.”

SESSION THREE: July 19 -20 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pm MLI 111: Leading through Emergency Management and Disaster ReliefA significant way for organizations to share God’s love with a community or nation is by responding effectively to a disaster. The instructor of this module will introduce you to key concepts and review significant case studies designed to empower leaders to develop an effective disaster response plan for their congregation or organization. Topics will include: “The Disaster Response Cycle,” “Organizational Continuity Planning,” “Leading Volunteers and Staff During a Disaster,” and “Community Disaster Response.”

SESSION TWO: July 17 -18 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pm MLI 102 Leading with Emotional Intelligence and Cultural SensitivityIn this module, you will discover how improving and developing emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity will enhance your leadership capacity and ministry skills. Incorporating dynamic sessions and a variety of experiential learning opportunities, your instructor will help you discover the resources and skills necessary to elevate your professional skills—including more effective communication, conflict resolution skills, and overall effectiveness as a leader.

SESSION THREE: July 19 -20 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pm MLI 210 Technology in Global Transformation and CommunicationTechnology has taken a hugely transformational role in recent history, impacting everything from industry, healthcare, finances, military warfare, to social behavior, and beyond. Today, we have arrived at the fourth Industrial Revolution, i4.0, sometimes called the Digital Revolution. The massive global connectivity i4—of both humans and machines—is transforming society, industry, and how we behave, at the speed of light. This module identifies the key inventions associated with i4.0 and their effects and implications on society and industry, both intended and unintended. It also will include a Biblical perspective of the role of science and technology in eschatology. The course ends with a final session on the “Dos and Don’ts in Innovation and Startup Companies.”

MLI and ORU have cooperated to assemble an extraordinary faculty of leadership professionals, Christian thought-leaders, and dynamic educators to form a tremendous faculty for this

summer’s course offerings.

Dr. Clarence Boyd is an alumnus of Oral Roberts University and currently serves as vice president of Student Life. He is the president and founder of Revelations-Revealed Truth Ministries in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he mentors young men, primarily, in the roles and responsibilities of manhood, and also founded Revelations-Revealed Truth Evangelistic Center, a local church in Tulsa. As an author, Dr. Boyd focuses on teaching the next generation of men about fatherhood, manhood, and masculinity, with the goal of seeing men return to their rightful place in the home, workplace, and church.

Rev. Chee Kang Seng Pastor Chee Kang Seng is a revelational preacher who has ministered in more than 20 nations. Thousands have been miraculously healed in Thailand through his ministry, which is marked by God’s glory, miracles, and breakthroughs! A graduate of the National University of Singapore, Pastor Kang Seng holds a master’s degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in the USA. He is the founder of Living Streams International, one of the fastest growing apostolic networks in Thailand focused on church planting, evangelism and transformation. He is also the founder of Revive Asia—a platform committed to the revival of Asia, city taking, and nation transformation. Their first conference was attended by more than 5,000 from 40 nations.

Dr. Matthew Kuruvilla is an evangelist and motivational speaker who has a passion for spreading the love of Jesus across the globe. Every Sunday, more than 15,000 people assemble in their 14,000 sq. ft. facility in the heart of Kottayam, India, with hundreds finding salvation each week. In addition, small groups that meet throughout the state of Kerala are being used by the Lord to set the multitudes free. Dr. Kuruvilla’s encounter with God, through God’s servant Rev. Rheinhard Bonnke, changed his whole ministry. Today, Dr. Kuruvilla is filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit and spirit of evangelism, and he dreams, seeks, and presses on to see India saved.

Pastor Benny Ho has been a pastor and Bible teacher for the last 30 years. He is currently the senior pastor of Faith Community Church in Perth, Western Australia, founder of D-Net, Inc, an apostolic network of disciple-making churches. His twin passions in ministry are expository preaching and mentoring. He has also founded Arrows Resources with a vision to help local churches establish discipleship and mentoring structures to enable every member to be a minister.

Dr. Jason M. Pudlo, an assistant professor at Oral Roberts University, became interested in disaster studies after spending time as a clergyman engaged in local disaster response with several religious congregations. His peer-reviewed research has focused on disaster warnings and social media, faith-based disaster response, and religious influences on environmentalism, and has appeared in Public Administration Review, Journal of Emergency Management, and the Oxford Encyclopedia of Politics and Religion. His research work has been supported by several grants to study faith-based disaster response, including a Louisville Institute Project Grant for Researchers supported by the Lilly Foundation. Dr. Pudlo has had the opportunity to partner with local municipalities and congregations to improve emergency and disaster services.

Assoc. Prof. Stacey Blaylock is the director of the Oral Roberts University Social Work Program. She has developed and taught a variety of courses such as: Group Dynamics; Social Work Ethics; Community Practice; Non-Profit Social Work Practice; Introduction to Social Work; Human Behavior and the Social Environment; Senior Research; and Child Welfare. In addition to teaching, Blaylock has seven years of professional practice in medical social work, specializing in trauma care. Her recent research focuses on the areas of non-traditional social work practice, as well as the integration of technology in experiential learning. She has presented at multiple conferences.

Dr. Freddy Boey is the senior vice president (Graduate Education and Research Translation) at the National University Singapore. Previously, he was provost at Nanyang Technological University 2011-2018, where he transformed NTU into a world-class research university, jumping from 74th in 2011 to 11th in the world in the QS 2017 University World Ranking. He started Singapore’s 3rd Medical School at NTU jointly with Imperial College London, for which he was conferred the 2016 Singapore National Day Public Administration Gold Medal. He also won the Monash University Engineering 50th Anniversary Distinguished Alumni Award.

SESSION FOUR: July 22 -23 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pm Module 104: Kingdom Leadership for Marketplace, City, and National RevivalIn this module, you will discover what it means to be a Kingdom leader and the role you can play in bringing revival, by God’s grace, to the marketplace, a city, or nation. Through lecture, class interaction, and small group discussions, you will gain powerful insights into the principles, practices, problems, and challenges of Kingdom Leadership. You will also learn how to avoid the pitfalls of this type of leadership to ensure that you are not hindered in your roles and responsibilities. This powerful module will prepare you to understand how Kingdom Leadership seeks to serve, influence, impact, and bring cultural change to the marketplace and the city for Christ.

SESSION FOUR: July 22 -23 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pm MLI 202: Entrepreneurial Business Models and Strategic Planning ApproachesIn this module, you will become familiar with the important role of strategic planning in a variety of organizations, and how leaders design strategies that can be implemented at all levels. Of particular interest is the design of business models as a form of strategic differentiation. You will leave the class with a greater understanding on how effective leaders can utilize creativity and innovative practices to guide the strategy-making process and how to analyze and refine corporate, nonprofit, and social business models.

SESSION FIVE: July 24 -25 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pModule 205: Christian Conduct and Witness in GovernmentThis course will introduce you to the potential impact Christians can have in government. The module is presented in two parts: Part 1: Leadership and Constitutional Government, and Part 2: Negotiations, Anti-Corruption Program, Crisis Management, Pursuing Career, and Kingdom Building. The instructor will use a series of case studies, representing actual issues he handled while a minister of the Hong Kong Government.

Pastor Dato’ Dr. Daniel Ho taught engineering in Kuala Lumpur for several years before serving as the founding general secretary of the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) of Malaysia for ten years. NECF provides covering for all evangelical churches in Malaysia. He also founded and led Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) in Petaling Jaya, from 1980 to 2016, when he retired as senior pastor. The church has over 4,000 people in weekly meetings. Dr. Ho has spoken in over 30 countries, on all six continents, and has contributed to several books and magazines. He serves as adviser to numerous organizations and is a sought-after speaker to CEOs and business leaders around the world.

Dr. David Burkus is a best-selling author and sought-after keynote speaker. An ORU graduate and associate professor of leadership and innovation at Oral Roberts University, Burkus’ latest book, Under New Management, challenges the traditional and widely accepted principles of business man-agement and proves that they are outdated, outmoded, or simply do not work—and reveals what does. He has delivered keynotes to the leaders of Fortune 500 companies and the future leaders of the Unit-ed States Naval Academy. His TED talk has been viewed over 1.7 million times. Burkus is a regular contributor to Harvard Business Review.

The Hon. Stephen Lam, GBM, GBS: is the former chief secretary of Hong Kong (September 2011 to June 2012). Prior to this position, he was secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, where he was responsible for elections, human rights and Hong Kong’s relations with Mainland China and Taiwan. After retiring from the Hong Kong Government in June 2012, Mr. Lam read theology at Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford, and the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, receiving a Certificate in Theological and Pastoral Studies (2013). Currently, Mr. Lam undertakes speaking engagements at churches, schools and other institutions in Hong Kong and abroad. Starting in 2014, Mr. Lam has been invited by the Ravi Zacharias International Ministries to join the Asia team as an adjunct speaker.

SESSION FIVE: July 24 -25 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pmMLI 101: Influencing Organizational Culture (Biblical Leadership) and Leading Change Management This module provides an in-depth overview of servant leadership as well as other leadership styles. Students will understand how these various models influence organizational flourishing as well as how they can be used in a ministry environment. Students will learn how leadership studies regarding change management have developed and how to implement change management within their organization and/or ministry.

SESSION SIX: July 26 -27 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pmMLI 200: Leading from the Future and Emerging TechnologiesYour ability to frame, anticipate, and shape the future is critical, whether you are a leader in the marketplace, community, or church. Discover practical foresight tools you can use to build adaptive businesses and ministries in an age of change. Team taught by dynamic leaders, this module asks and answers vital questions, such as: Where will leadership for the 21st century come from? How should we approach the next decade or even distant horizons? How do we utilize new technologies and stay current with advancements?

SESSION SIX: July 26 -27 | 9 am-12:30 pm; 2:00-6:00 pmMLI 209 Leadership Through Social EntrepreneurshipThere are nearly five billion people living in poverty within developing countries who have yet to reap the benefits of global capitalism. The need is all the greater, therefore, for a more sustainable form of capitalism to positively impact this significant demographic. In this course, you will examine how organizations can achieve both financial and social impact by targeting emerging markets in developing countries. Your instructor will provide transformational insights on working with areas such as: Venture start-up; business model development; strategy formulation; marketing; management; financing; and assessment of sustainable business strategies targeting emerging markets.

Mr. Todd Nichols has invested more than 25 years in nonprofit and for-profit management sectors. He has spanned the globe assisting philanthropists with strategy, project due diligence, and evaluation, and has assisted nonprofits with strategy, board development, outcome evaluation, as well as grant development. He spent more than five years in the nonprofit sector working in the inner-cities of Chicago, Illinois, and Orlando, Florida. Nich-ols also worked as a program officer at a private family foundation and has represented multiple philanthropists. He has worked with university executives, deans, and faculty in establishing a university-wide foundation and research development program and has assisted in the implementation of multiple international leadership and organization expansion projects.

Dr. Jay Gary, one of America’s leading foresight educators, joined Oral Roberts University in 2015, with more than two decades of entrepreneurial experience in higher education, business consulting, and world missions experience. He is the assistant dean of ORU Online Learning and is an associate professor of leadership. He has published over 33 papers, including “The future according to Jesus: A Galilean model of foresight,” that was selected by Emerald Management as one of 50 best articles of 2008 (out of 15,000). Dr. Gary also serves as chair of on the board of the Association of Professional Futurists, that equips managers, entrepreneurs, and consultants to “work the future” in their industry.

Mr. Michael (Mike) L. Mathews, vice president of technology and innovation at Oral Roberts University has 24 years of experience as a senior-level IT executive. Mathews brings creative solutions valuing both the end-users of technology and business process management. His work to date has resulted in more than 12 global awards. His dual experience in business and education along with working knowledge of seven Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems allows him to quickly assess business process and technology innovation that creatively impacts products, process, students, and society. Dr. Kevin Schneider taught strategic management in the ORU College of Business for 10 years before being appointed executive director of the Office of Global Services: The International Student Center, Study Abroad Program, and ORU Healing Teams. For nearly 20 years, he has led teams and worked internationally in business, ministry, and international development. His areas of expertise include: Business strategy, social entrepreneurship and social business, to leadership, international missions, and transformational development.
