Making a noun plural (Journal page 36)
There are 4 rules for making nouns plural in
Spanish:
Rule #1
To make a noun plural in Spanish:
• add “S” to nouns that end in a vowel
Ejemplo: bota (sing.) = botas (pl.)
• add “ES” to nouns that end in a
consonant
Ejemplo: árbol (sing.)= árboles (pl.)
![Page 6: martes, 8 de octubre 2013 - Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ......martes, 8 de octubre 2013 El Campanero Write the numbers in Español: –950—novecientos cincuenta –12,400—doce mil cuatrocientos](https://reader034.vdocuments.net/reader034/viewer/2022051810/601ae3f262d8f65a783d9fc4/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Making a noun plural, cont. (Journal page 36)
Rule #2
If a noun ends in “z”, change the “z” to “c”
and add “es”.
Ejemplo:
lápiz (singular)
lápices (plural)
![Page 7: martes, 8 de octubre 2013 - Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ......martes, 8 de octubre 2013 El Campanero Write the numbers in Español: –950—novecientos cincuenta –12,400—doce mil cuatrocientos](https://reader034.vdocuments.net/reader034/viewer/2022051810/601ae3f262d8f65a783d9fc4/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)

If a noun ends in “ión”, drop the accent and
add “es”

lección (singular)
lecciones (plural—NO ACCENT)

Making a noun plural, cont. (Journal page 36)

an ending, only a plural article (either definite
or indefinite)

martes (singular)
los martes or unos martes (plural)
