Derek Nakamoto : Arrange, Acoustic Piano DDerek Nakamoto, a Japanese American Honolulu native, has supported MARTH's music for over 10 years as an arranger.As a visionary recording producer, arranger, composer, and a pianist based in L.A., Derek has been active in the American music scene for more than 20 years. He has contributed to Hollywood movie projects and worked with various popular artists such as O'Jays, Herp Albert, and Keiko Matsui. He has also served as an arranger for London Symphony Orchestra and Shin-Nippon Philharmonic Orchestra. Derek was a coordinator of the Honolulu recording which took place in June 2011. As a sworn friend of MARTH, Derek brought the MARTH's music into life, which is of exquisite magnificence and sensitivity. Derek also played a solo piano for this project characterized by meditative sounds.

HBeloved people on the beautiful islands created it together.BHawaiian Islands-embraced with the beautiful nature..From the ancient time, people have loved the natural spirits that incarnated themselves into the gods with awe.Today Hawaii is still a place filled with healing energies coming from the oceans, mountains, flowers, and birds. The sense of oneness with the nature brings us a great peacefulness.Hawaii is also a melting pot where people live together beyond national and ethnic boundaries.The peaceful unity among the happy and friendly people of Hawaii itself is a serendipitous gift to us.Everyone who joined the MARTH's recording are native of Hawaii or live in Hawaii including the former members of Honolulu symphony, solo harpist and guitarist, engineers and an arranger.With a gracious support from those kind-hearted people, the recording was made it possible. It might have been a "Hawaii Healing" Miracle that could only happen in Hawaii.

Jeff Peterson: Acoustic GuitarBorn on the Island of Maui, Jeff Peterson grew at the foot of great Haleakala where he was introduced to the rich tradition of Hawaiian music by his father, who was a Paniolo-Hawaiian cowboy in the Haleakala Ranch. Recognized as one of Hawaii's most talented and versatile musicians, Jeff is at the heart of the Hawaiian music scene today.

Sharene Lum: HarpSharene is a Honolulu native brought up in a musical family in which her mother plays koto and her father plays ukulele.After living, learning and performing the harp in L.A. for 12 years, Sharene now enjoys being back home in Hawaii and raising her two beautiful children.

PALE KAIKO PARADISE

STORY – A BIRTH OF HAWAII HEALINGIn always seeking the ultimate, MARTH has made recordings in Hollywood, Tokyo and Hawaii. Some of the top musicians have been brought together in studios of the highest sound quality to record music of exquisite magnificence and sensitivity.MARTH's most recent recording was conducted in Honolulu, Hawaii, coordinated by Derek Nakamoto, a Japanese-American Honolulu native who has been active in the American music scene such as Hollywood movie projects, and as a pianist and an arranger for various popular artists. The recording took place in Studio 909, a spacious studio that used to be a rehearsal room for the now disbanded Honolulu Symphony where numerous movie soundtracks have been recorded. The former string players of the Honolulu Symphony reunited for a day of recording, and a luxurious atmosphere prevailed as though it were recreating the Good Old Hollywood movie sound. The feeling of the day is captured well in the lyrics of one of MARTH’ s pieces recorded that day, the direct and truthful message- “Just us together, then nothing else matters.”In the past, Hawaiian people had no writing system. They revered nature; they had a sense of oneness with nature, and a love and respect for the precious aspect we call life. Their sense of awe towards the gods, who embody nature, had been passed down by word-of-mouth through the generations, giving a deep sense that people and nature are profoundly connected; a great presence had been nurtured over the centuries. Such a vast capacity for tolerance might have been a factor in realizing the harmonious Honolulu recording. The string players generously extended the recording time in order to give an even better performance; the guitarist played pure-hearted, reminiscent of his childhood where he grew up close to nature in Maui, the son of a cowboy. A harpist in her Polynesian garb earnestly strummed on her instrument like a Greek goddess. The pianist talked about his dream to return to his hometown and guide the younger generation. Each had his and her own thoughts and dreams, but the music which had come through MARTH seemed to take all of them to a higher sphere, to a sphere where everything is one and connected. And we would like to call this new music “Hawaii Healing Music” .
