MARUTI 800cc ENGINE

INTRODUCTION

We are working on a Maruti 800cc engine.1-Engine type:4-stroke Petrol engine.2-Engine displacement: 796cc.3- Engine config.In-line, 3-cylender,6- valves.4-Peak power: 47 BHP @5000 rpm.5-Peak torque: 59 nm@ 2500 rpm.

6- Highway mileage: 18.3kmpl

PARTS OF ENGINE

There are various parts of engine. 1. Cylinder head with cam shaft & rocker arm

assembly 2. Cylinder block.3. Oil pan.4. Crank shaft.5. Piston, piston ring and connecting rod.6. Timing set( timing belt , crank gear pulley, cam gear pulley and adjusting bearing).7. Flywheel.8. Alternator.9. Carburettor.

10. Intake manifold.11. Exhaust manifold.12. Inlet & outlet valves.13. Distributor case & distributor assembly.14. Spark plugs.15. Different types of gasket.16. Ignition coil.17. Bearing caps.18.Oil seal housing.19. Oil strainer.20. Fuel filter.

CARBURETTOR

Carburettor is used in only S.I. engines(i.e. petrol engine).It mixes the air-fuel ratio in desired amount and transfer to the inlet manifold.

INTAKE MANIFOLD

Intake manifold is very important part through which air- fuel mixture enter to the combustion chamber.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD

It is an also important part that passes burnt gasses through out from the cylinder.

OIL SEAL HOUSING

Oil seal housing is used to make a leakage proof for lubricating oil . It is connected to the flywheel side.

INLET & OUTLET VALVES

In three cylinder engine 3- inlet valves and 3- outlet valves are used.

CYLENDER HEAD

Cylinder head is shown in fig. The cylinder head consists of camshaft , valve and rocker arm assembly.

CYLINDER BLOCK

Cylinder block as shown in fig. In cylinder block piston moves upward(T.D.C.) and downward(B.D.C.) .

OIL PANOil Pan in shown in fig. In which lubricating oil can be collect by the help of oil strainer.

CRANK SHAFT

Crank shaft is shown in fig. . Which rotates with the help of fly wheel and connecting rod is mounted on the crank shaft.

PISTONPiston is shown in fig. For each cylinder , separate piston are used .In the piston 3 types of rings are used.1. Compression ring.2. Expander ring. 3. Oil ring.

TIMING SETTiming set consist of timing belt ,adjusting bearing ,crank gear pulley ,cam gear pulley etc.It sets spark timing in cylinder block.

DISTRIBUTORDistributor as shown in fig. which is used to ignite the air-fuel ratio in the cylinder. In this 3- cylinder engine the fire ratio is 1-3-2.

FLYWHEELFlywheel is used to absorb the energy and transmits this energy to the transmission box. It rotates through the starter motor.

ALTERNATOR

Basically alternator is used to generate the electric power and behind the alternator through the wire.It is connected to the battery. Alternator is used to charge battery also.

CAM SHAFT

It operates the valve mechanisms upward and downward through the rocker arm assembly.This cam is known tangent cam.

STARTER MOTOR

It is used to produce the power in flywheel and to start the engine. It is also known as self.
