Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

• The secret to creating the perfect makeup application is using the right tools.

Makeup brushes make all the difference and make makeup fun!

• Makeup brushes are designed to pick up and distribute cosmetic product

without absorbing it.

• In addition, the use of brushes generally limits the amount of times your fingers

come in contact with the face. Therefore, there is less pulling and tugging of

the skin.

• Anyone, from a novice to a professional, can benefit from using the right tools.

The high-quality Mary Kay® brushes offer a polished and professional

application every time!

Why Invest in Brushes?

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

Mary Kay® Brushes• Mary Kay® cosmetic brushes are designed purposefully to

complement Mary Kay® color and face products.

• The hair for the brushes is specifically chosen based on each

brush’s function and purpose. Our cheek, powder and eye

brushes are made from top-of-the-line natural bristles. Our

liquid foundation, eyeliner/eyebrow and cream eye

color/concealer brushes are made from high-quality synthetic

bristles.

• Each brush is customized to perfection, featuring handles that

have been uniquely shaped to maximize comfort and control

when applying your makeup.

• The uncompromised quality and performance means your

brushes are designed to last when properly cared for.

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

Mary Kay® Liquid Foundation Brush• What it’s for: Applying liquid foundation.

• Why it works: The unique, flat, tapered shape allows the brush to go

places that fingertips can’t. It ensures that every contour on the face is

covered. The bristles won’t absorb product. Using a brush is more

hygienic than using your fingertips.

• How to use it: Start at the center of your face, at the nose or forehead

and use broad, even strokes, working out to hairline and chin to sweep

and blend the makeup.

• Products that complement it: All Mary Kay® Liquid Foundations

• Brush hair type: Synthetic fibers provide even distribution of liquid-

and cream-based products, as the bristles do not expand when wet.

This helps contribute to the precise, streak-free application achieved

when using the brush.

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

Mary Kay® Mineral Foundation Brush• What it’s for: Applying mineral powder foundation

• Why it works: The short, dense bristles are designed to grab

the mineral powder foundation and evenly distribute it over all

facial contours. The brush allows for buildable coverage.

• How to use it: Lightly dip brush into the powder and tap

against the rim of the jar to remove any excess. Apply starting

in the center of the face, working outward in a circular motion.

• Product that complements it: Mary Kay® Mineral Powder

Foundation

• Brush hair type: Natural hair is best for the Mineral Powder

Foundation because it easily picks up, holds and effectively

distributes onto the face, allowing for buildable coverage.

Natural bristles are softer and more porous, so they hold onto

product to optimize payoff.

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

Mary Kay® Brush Collection: Powder Brush• What it’s for: Applying loose or pressed powder to help “set”

foundation and tone down shine

• Why it works: The large, fluffy brush with soft bristles is designed

to be used with both loose and pressed powders for even, smooth

application.

• How to use it: Sweep brush across pressed powder or dip into

loose powder; tap gently to remove excess and apply to the face

from forehead to chin using long, light strokes.

• Products that complement it: Mary Kay® Sheer Mineral Pressed

Powder, Mary Kay® Loose Powder, Mary Kay® Mineral Bronzing

Powder and Mary Kay® Mineral Highlighting Powder

• Brush hair type: Natural hair is best for the powder-based

products because it easily picks up, holds and effectively

distributes product onto the face. Natural bristles are softer and

more porous so they hold onto product to optimize payoff.

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

Mary Kay® Brush Collection: Cheek Brush• What it’s for: Applying and blending cheek color, including bronzing

and highlighting powder

• Why it works: The angled shape works with the contours of the face.

Strategically slanted bristles help accentuate bone structure and a

healthy blush.

• How to use it: Using the tip of the brush, apply color to the apple of

the cheek and stroke upward along cheekbone, stopping just below the

temple. Blend.

• Products that complement it: Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color, Mary

Kay® Mineral Bronzing Powder and Mary Kay® Mineral Highlighting

Powder

• Brush hair type: Natural hair is best for the powder-based products

because it easily picks up, holds and effectively distributes product

onto the face. Natural bristles are softer and more porous so they hold

onto product to optimize payoff.

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

Mary Kay® Brush Collection: Eye Definer Brush

• What it’s for: Applying and blending pressed eye color evenly.

• Why it works: The beveled-shaped bristles help shape and

define eyes by depositing color evenly across the eyelid.

• How to use it: Softly sweep across the eyelid and then lightly

above the crease for a natural yet polished look.

• Product that complements it: Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Color

• Hair type: Natural hair is best for the powder-based products

because it easily picks up, holds and effectively distributes

product onto the face. Natural bristles are softer and more

porous so they hold onto product to optimize payoff.

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

Mary Kay® Brush Collection: Eye Crease Brush• What it’s for: Applying eye color in a targeted area and accentuating the

crease.

• Why it works: The tapered bristles help provide precision application and

are great for adding depth to eyes.

• How to use it: Begin by placing brush at outer corner of eye and sweep

inward following the natural crease. This brush also can be used to create a

smoky eye look. Using the brush tip, softly sweep along lower lashes from

outer corner inward.

• Product that complements it: Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Color

• Hair type: Natural hair is best for the powder-based products because it

easily picks up, holds and effectively distributes product onto the face.

optimize payoff.

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

Mary Kay® Brush Collection: Eyeliner/Eyebrow Brush• What it’s for: Applying eyeliner and brow color. Shaping eyebrow

hairs.

• Why it works: Eyeliner: The firm, angled bristles are designed for

precise application of color to lashline or brows. Eyebrow: The stiff

brush bristles tame eyebrow hair.

• How to use it: Eyeliner: Apply a thin line of color along top and bottom

lashes. Eyebrow: To use, brush brows in the opposite direction from

which they grow to remove any excess foundation. Gently brush brows

back, following their natural shape and direction, as a finishing touch to

your makeup application.

• Products that complement it: Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Color, Mary

Kay® Mascaras and Mary Kay® Brow Pencils.

• Brush hair type: Eyeliner: Synthetic hair is stiffer than natural hair and

helps create a precise application.

• Bonus: This brush also includes an eyelash comb which is great for

separating lashes immediately after applying mascara!

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

• Why it works: The short, flat, dense bristles allow the brush to evenly

distribute cream-based product. The tapered shape allows for precise

application.

• How to Use it: Cream Eye Color: Dip brush in product and apply using

short, sweeping brush strokes. Layer product for desired effect. Concealer:

Apply small amount of concealer to back of hand. Dip brush in product.

Use the tip to cover tiny imperfections and use the flat end to help cover

larger areas of skin. Blend.

Concealer, and Mary Kay® Eye Primer

Brush Care and Handling for Personal Use

• It is best to clean brushes weekly. To clean, wet the brush hair. Squirt brush

cleanser in your palm and sweep bristles back and forth in a circular motion.

• Rinse well. Squeeze out excess water with a clean towel; reshape bristles

and lay brush with hairs extending out over a ledge to dry. Never dry brushes

upright, as water can seep in and weaken the handle.

• Keep your Mary Kay® Brushes looking nice by storing them in their case when

not in use.

• By following the brush care and handling instructions above, you can extend

the life of the brushes.

Mary Kay® Cosmetic Brushes

Brush Care and Handling for Demonstration Use• Instructions

It is critical to follow safe, hygienic practices to minimize the possibility of spreading

bacteria and germs between customers. Do not allow use on customers with broken

skin or visible skin outbreaks. Never allow brushes to be shared between guests at

the same appointment. Brushes must be sanitized and thoroughly air-dried between

each customer. Cleaning brushes between each use ensures that customers can

sample the product safely and effectively

• Sanitize

After every customer use, clean the brush using a commercially available brush

cleaner that lists alcohol (isopropyl alcohol, SD alcohol or alcohol denat) as the first

or second ingredient on the label. Follow the instructions on the brush cleaner label.

• Dry

Allow the brush to dry naturally by laying the brush flat on a clean tissue until it

completely dries. Always allow the brushes to dry thoroughly before storage and

avoid touching the brush hairs with bare hands. Store the cleaned, completely dry

brushes individually in a clean plastic bag between demonstrations.
