• She was born on July 10,1875 in Maysville, South Carolina.

• Mary McLeod Bethune studied at religious schools and became a teacher.

In 1898 she married Albert Bethune who was a teacher.

• Mary McLeod Bethune attended a mission school which was called The Moody Bible Institute
