¿Masculino o femenino?• In Spanish, nouns (objects or things)
are either masculine or feminine.
• Nearly all nouns that end in –o are masculine.
• Nearly all nouns that end in –a are feminine.
el libro = the bookla ventana = the window

la puerta = the doorla silla = the door
¿Singular o plural?• To make a noun a plural – you
normally just add an ‘s’
• There are some exceptions.If the noun ends in a consonant, add “-es”.
• If the noun ends in a “z”, change it to a “c” and add “es”.
libro = book libros = booksventana = window ventanas = windows
móvil = mobile móviles = mobilesordenador = computer ordenadores = computers

¿El, la, los o las?• “El” means “the” – it’s for
masculine words. “los” is the plural for “the”.
• “La” means “the” – it’s for feminine words. “las” is the plural for “the”.

¿Un, una, unos o unas?
• To say “a” with masculine words, we use “un”. If we want to make this plural, we say “unos”.
• To say “a” with feminine words, we use “una”. If we want to make this plural, we say “unas”.
