ST. ANTHONY NOVENA TUESDAYS MARCH 19 - JUNE 11, 2019

9 AM Mass followed by prayer to the Saint

We celebrate the 13 Tuesdays, a Novena in honor of St. Anthony of Padua, the Miracle Worker.

A Novena is a specific time set aside on a regular basis to focus in prayer on specific intentions. Saint Anthony is our “partner” in prayer and a channel for God’s wonders

to bring about change and healing. Please come, one and all, and bring your needs to God’s care.

PONTIFICAL GOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION

Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Chr istians in the Holy Land.

Your Support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Pontifical Good Friday collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines.

The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees.

Wen you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land.

PLEASE BE GENEROUS! We will take this collection at the

Friday Stations of the Cross at 12 PM and The Passion of the Lord service at 3 PM.

CRS RICE BOWL is the official Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services, the official overseas international relief and development agency of the United States Bishops. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised are sent to CRS for international development projects; twenty-five percent of CRS Rice Bowl funds local programs and initiatives that support hunger and poverty programs. You can donate to the Rice Bowl collection on Holy Thursday at the 6 PM Mass of the Lord’s Supper at St. Nicholas. Please remember to turn in your Rice Bowls this week.

open from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM on

MONDAYS for anyone in need of assistance. To maintain this ministry we need to keep the shelves at the pantry full of non-perishable food items. Please use the donation boxes, located in both Churches, as you are able to so we can continue to help those less fortunate in our community. Donations can also be dropped off at the Parish Office. Suggested Donations for April: Peanut Butter , Jelly, Cereal, Paper Towels, Toilet Paper & Toothpaste. The Food Pantry also accepts donations for babies and mothers in need. Suggested Donations: Formula, Baby Food, Diapers, Baby Wipes.

2019 Annual Bishop’s Appeal As of March 21st our parish has achieved 20.2% towards our goal of 100% participation. The suggested pledge goal for our parish is $61,264.00. Our current pledges total $28,226.00 with 255 of our 1313 families participating. While the financial need is $4.2 million, our parish goal of 100% participation is a goal we are working hard to attain. There

are many ways in which you can participate. Please PRAY for the success of the Annual Bishop’s Appeal. Your prayers are meaningful and critical to our success as a Church family.

DONATE to the Appeal. Use the response card you received in the mail OR use an envelope found in your pew to respond. Please submit a response card even if you are unable to make a gift of any dollar amount. Your response will count towards

our parish participation goal. VOLUNTEER your time and talents to any of the ministries of the Church. We ask every family to prayerfully participate in the Annual Appeal. We also encourage you to speak with friends and family members who are not active in the parish at this time. Thank you in advance for your reflection and generous response.

A Prayer Chain is being established at Christ Our Savior Parish to pray for those who leave their intentions in the prayer boxes at Holy Trinity Church or St. Nicholas. This will be a chance for everyone to become involved in parish life and to offer our prayers for fellow parishioners in need. It is also a chance to participate in the Bishop's Appeal by volunteering your time to pray for others. For more information please contact Paul Brenner at [email protected] or phone 330-707-4986 or Jackie Blake at [email protected] or phone 330-743-7923.

~featuring~ Horseshoe Curve ~ Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel

Mount Assisi Sunken Gardens ~ Marian Shrines

Depart St. Nicholas Church at 5:30 a.m. by motorcoach to Greensburg where you board Amtrak’s “Pennsylvanian” for an exciting and scenic train ride to Altoona. Enjoy spectacular views that can only be seen by train. Travel aboard Amtrak’s spacious passenger cars equipped with comfortable reclining coach seats. Upon arrival in Altoona, re-board our motorcoach and travel to the peaceful town of Loretto. In 1799 Father Demetrius Gallitzin arrived in Loretto and established St. Michael’s Church, the only Catholic church at the time between Lancaster, PA and St. Louis, MO. As an expression of his great love for Our Lady, Father Gallitzin named his village in her honor and it was his life’s dream that Loretto would someday become a center of devotion and pilgrimage to the Mother of God. Celebrate Mass in what is now the lovely Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel. Visit Prince Gallitzin’s Chapel House which was the residence and private chapel of Father Gallitzin. Enjoy a bountiful lunch at Saint Francis University, the oldest Franciscan college in the United States and one of the first Catholic colleges established in this country. This afternoon stroll through the beautiful Mount Assisi Sunken Gardens located on the grounds of the former summer estate of Bethlehem Steel magnate, Charles Schwab. The lovely grounds features shrines to Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady of Loretto as well as exquisite gardens. Arrive back at the church at approximately 6:30 p.m.
