PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

Lord Jesus, Son of the Eternal Father and

Mary Immaculate, give to our young people the

generosity necessary to follow your call and the

courage required to overcome all obstacles to

their vocation. Give to parents that faith, love

and spirit of sacrifice which will inspire them to

offer their children to God’s service and to

rejoice whenever one of their children is called

to the priesthood or religious life. May your

example and that of your Blessed Mother and

Saint Joseph encourage both young people and

parents and let your grace sustain them.

Amen

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy;

hail our life, our sweetness, and our hope!

To thee do we cry, poor banished children of eve;

to thee do we send up our sighs mourning and

weeping in this vale of tears.

Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of

mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show

unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O clement ,O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

P. pray for us ,O holy Mother of God.

C. That we may be made worthy of the promises

of Christ.

Gospel Reflection for Corpus Christi

An Every Day Miracle The Eucharist is an 'every day miracle'. The trouble is that for many of us, the Eucharist has become so routine that we can easily fail to appreciate its true significance.

If we really want to rekindle the wonderment of that daily or weekly miracle, we have to

start nurturing a life changing appreciation of the Eucharist and of the Mass. Key to appreciation is preparation. If the Eucharist is food for our minds and our souls, it’s important not to fill up on junk beforehand. Do we turn up for Mass in the right frame of mind ready to give genuine thought to our prayers and to the readings, or do we arrive with our heads full of trivia… life’s junk food. Chances are that if we arrive at Mass with our heads full of unrelated thoughts, we will spend our time simply going through the motions. We might as well not be there in the first place.

In the moments before Holy Communion when we are kneeling quietly in the bench with heads bowed, are we simply kneeling quietly in the bench or are we preparing our minds. We need to be preparing to receive Jesus’ real presence into our bodies and into our lives. We need to be remembering Jesus’ sacrifice and the reasons he made it. At the Last Supper Jesus charged us to keep his memory alive. In celebrating the Eucharist we celebrate the memory of his passion and death. As we break bread and drink wine in his name we recall Jesus’ opposition to religious sham, his commitment to forgiveness and inner healing, his determination to overcome sin and his ultimate sacrifice.

How do we behave after Communion? Do we hurry back to our seat and continue chatting to the person in the next bench? How do we behave after the Mass has ended, do we make a hasty exit keen to get on with the rest of the day, or do we remember that we are taking God out into the world with us?

Jesus is with us to the end of time, and one of the ways he is with us is through the Eucharist. The sooner we start appreciating this every-day miracle the sooner our lives will change for the better.

Pope Francis' Prayer Intention for June Social Networks Inclusion means including all people in the decisions that change our lives. Inclusion means valuing everyone's contribution and everyone's opinion. Those from minority backgrounds might not have the confidence to attend a meeting or write to an MP, but most are able to engage on Facebook or Twitter. Social networking media isn’t just for connecting with old high school friends any more. It’s a global communications tool for expanding the reach of those willing to make the effort to engage. There are now more than 3 billion active social media users around the world. A staggering number, especially when you consider the Earth's population is 7.5 billion. However there are still barriers to using social media. There are those with learning difficulties who find it difficult to use a computer. There are still elderly people who would like to be involved but struggle to understand it all. Then of course there are those who just don't want to bother with computers and that of course is absolutely fine. Social networks are everywhere not just online. Pope Francis' challenge for this month is to help those who would like to be included in social networking either on or offline with whatever barriers they might have. We join Pope Francis' prayer intention for June, "... That social networks may work towards that inclusiveness which respects others for their differences. "

behalf of the APF Mill Hill Missionaries

PADUA PILGRIMAGE

on pilgrimage to Padua and Lake Maggiore

on Thursday 7th June—Friday 15th June.

Be assured that at all our Masses and

devotions you will be remembered,

especially those who are sick and suffering

and for all our departed relatives and

friends. We Pray to St Anthony of Padua

to protect us all.

CONFIRMATION 2018/2019

If any child currently in Year 6 and above would like to make their Sacrament of Confirmation please collect an application form from Fr Adrian.

CRAFT GROUP

The Thursday Craft group will be closed in June and will reopen on 5th July at 7.00pm.

Month of the Sacred Heart. On June 1, 2008, at his weekly Angelus address, Pope Benedict XVI urged Catholics "to renew, in this month of June, their devotion to the Heart of Jesus." The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a moveable feast, but it most often

takes place in June, and so June is traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart. This year we celebrate this feast on 8th June.

World Environment Day Tuesday 5th June 2018 Beat Plastic Pollution If you can't re-use it...refuse it. This World Environment Day, UN Environment is calling on citizens, companies and civil society groups to get out and organize cleanups in their communities. Working with partners, organisers think it’s possible to make 2018 the world’s biggest-ever worldwide cleanup . Top Tips:-

Farm shops, markets and bigger supermarkets

offer loose fruit and veg - choose unpackaged options where possible to cut your plastic use. This also reduces food waste as you can buy what you need rather than the pre-packaged amount - and it’s often cheaper!

Coffee cups, water bottles and carrier bags all

come in reusable forms, so you don’t have to keep buying new disposable ones.

When you’re going out for a drink refuse

plastic straws, and instead encourage pubs and cafes to use card straws which are increasing in popularity,

Buy items like body wash, hand soap and

shampoo in solid form rather than bottled in plastic.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Please remember in your prayers the 37 children making their First

Holy Communion this weekend Sunday 3rd June at the 10.30am

Mass.

Let us also pray for the parents/grandparents and guardians of our

First Holy Communion children. May Christ strengthen them to be

faithful in their commitment to help their children grow in faith and

keep accompanying them as they continue on this journey of faith.
