Dear Parishioners of St. Raphael,
This is my last article in the bulletin. I take this opportunity
to write a note of gratitude to all. A big thanks to all. I started my ministry here at St. Raphael the Archangel Parish on November 4, 2019. It is a wonderful parish with homey atmosphere. A very welcoming parish. Here I learned many things for my ministry in the Diocese of Greed Bay. I learned in different aspects like Pastoral, Spiritual, Cultural, Social, Financial, Administrational etc. It helped me to grow in my prayer life too. My special thanks to all the parishioners for the love, support, and encouragement. Fr. Tom Long, the Pastor, helped me to understand and learn things. He guided me in all the aspects. He is a good mentor to me. As a future pastor, all the things I needed to be learn he taught me. My sincere thanks to him. His humility and simplicity are very inspirational. His dedication to the ministry is wonderful. The staff and the Deacons are very good and their dedication to the jobs is inspirational. They work always for the good of the St. Raphael community. They helped me to learn things. They guided me in all areas of parish life. My special thanks to all of them. My special thanks to the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother. I had the wonderful opportunity of doing Masses for the sisters at the convent. They were very good to me and encouraged me. I had the good spiritual experiences shared by them. My heart is filled with good experiences and learnings. These are the good memories for the future. They pave the path for my future ministry. Life is like a bus journey. I stopped at the stop of St. Raphael Church. I worked some time here and now my journey continues to another stop i.e. at St. Leonard Parish, Laona, and St. Hubert Parish, Newald, St. Norbert Parish, Long Lake in northern Wisconsin. It is a beautiful place. We read in Psalm 103:2 says, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits.” Yes, God is the author and director of our lives. He leads us to the places wherever he chooses. We need to co-operate with him. We need to be thankful to him for the many ways he blesses us. My thanks and praises to God for the opportunity to work at St. Raphael. He blessed me greatly with this experience. Let us continue to work for the greater glory of God. A big thanks to all. Praise the Lord!
Yours in the Lord,
Fr. Anil Polumari
On July 12, St. Raphael hosted the Lourdes
Academy Graduation. Congratulations to
graduates from all our area high schools!
Fr. Anil Polumari
Fr. Anil is being transferred to serve as Administrator parishes the parishes in Laona, Long Lake and Newald in Forest County. There will be a card box for him at the Masses on August 1-2, or you may send a card to the parish office before that to wish him well.
Fr. Kevin Ripley (left), from Assumption BVM Parish in Pulaski, is being assigned to serve at St. Raphael Parish.

WORKING WITH THE SCRIPTURES Recently our television screens have been filled with images of protesters. There have been people of every age, race and creed, carrying signs and chanting chants on behalf of causes of importance to them. And there have been images of looters, people who damage and steal, sometimes from the very people who are marching with them. There have been images of police officers, dedicated to serving and protecting the lives, homes and businesses of the people who live and work in our cities. And there have been images of police officers who, caring little for the value of human life, have been seen beating and even killing those very same people.
As we watch these images stream across our screens we may find ourselves asking, “What are the people in charge going to do about this?” Perhaps we need to take a minute or two to ask ourselves just what the “this” we’re talking about is. Are we talking about the protesters? Or the looters? Are we talking about the police officers who do what they are sworn to do with concern for what they are doing and the people who whom they are doing it? Or the police officers who pick and choose who they will serve and protect based on personal prejudices? When choosing a side it is important that we choose well or we may destroy the very people and actions that can be life-giving for our nation.
“While everyone was asleep his enemy came and sowed weeds all through the wheat…’Do you want us to go and pull them up?’…’No, if you pull up the weeds you might uproot the wheat along with them…’”.
Good seed produces a good crop. Or, for the purposes of our social, political and cultural conversation, sincere protest and ethical policing are necessary if we are to harvest a good crop from out of the seeming chaos sewed by our enemies while we were asleep. This Sunday’s Scripture passages are about God’s action in our lives and our response. In the final analysis (the “harvest” of our life), how will we measure up?
