Massive Hip Model Recalls Damage Claims Triggers J &J Downfall?

Since 2010, DePuy Orthopaedics, a unit of Johnson and Johnson (J&J), is facing a issues ever since they issued a global recall over two of its ASR Hip System models and began to spend much on court settlements over damage claims. There was an estimated of 93,000 faulty hip replacement, of which 8,000 units and receivers figure highly in compensatory damage proceedings, including one from a Rochester, New York woman whose case takes the first trial this year.

With $28 billion in holdings of cash and short-term securities at the end of 2010, J&J surely weathered the financial drawbacks from the bad hips. What worries the consumers and stakeholders, however, is that the DePuy recalls may be indicative of a systemic quality-control problem inside the 125-year-old corporation: a prototype of performance that is noticeably at probability with the comforting image long enjoyed by the creator of brands like Band-Aid and \”No More Tears\” Baby Shampoo.

The DePuy crisis is one of more than 50 voluntary product recalls that J&J has issued just since the start of 2010. Claims of endorsing bum hips are terrible enough; the lawsuits allege worse: that DePuy unrelenting markets the hips even after it received preliminary numbers as early as 2007 signifying growing failure rates for both ASR models.

The company has so far committed $280 million to the recalls, and has promised to address reasonable and customary costs associated with testing and treatment, including new hips for patients who need them.

Patient’s will be unsure over this set of promises by Depuy after being guaranteed that the hip implant will bring back the normal motion of each patients wherein these patients had a hard time achieving because of an unbearable pain caused by either osteoarthritis on the hip or a broken femur or thigh bone.

Restoring a person’s motion and taking away the devastating pain of every patient turns into a disappointment for DePuy and may lead to the company’s breakdown with the frightening rapid increase of defective implants, corporate risk analysts say.

Cases such as these should not be taken lightly as this has caused inconvenience and distress not only one individual but thousands of patients who have completely changed their day-to- day living. For more related cases, you may check DePuy Hip Recall News Center at depuyrecallnewscenter.com.
