MASTER NANOTECH PARTY10 YEARS OF THE F IRST D IPLOMA

The science of creating, designing, integrating and manufacturing miniature components, instruments and systems is carried out using expertise in micrometric and nanometric technology.

Because of the rapid development rate of the microsystem/nanosystem world,it becomes very important to educate and train young technicians and researchers able to operate in micro- and nanotechnology applications.

The Politecnico of Torino, the INP of Grenoble, and the EPF of Lausanne have introduced a joint International Master in Nanotechnology starting on September 2004.

Aim of the joint Master is to train engineers able to operate in the field of the micro and nanotechnologies, including new materials and processes, the design of new devices and the discovery and explanation of new phenomena occurring on the nanometer scale. This new engineer will be able to increase the know-how and the competitiveness of European industry in the field of micro and nanosystems, in particular for what concerns the ICT field.

Each year, more than 40 students are recruited from students at Grenoble INP, the Politechnico in Turin and from the EPF Lausanne. The Master's degree course in micro and nanotechnology will enable students to acquire a solid and well balanced knowledge and skills base in the different fields linked to micro and nanotechnology, which will be directly relevant to the working environment.
