The MSc in Applied GIS has one intake per year (August). Applicants are encouraged to apply online via the NUS Graduate Admission System at: https://inetapps.nus.edu.sg/GDA2/Home.aspxThe application opens from 1st October to 1st March every year.

APPLICATION

• A good Honours degree (Second Class Upper or its equivalent) or a good Bachelors degree with relevant work experience.• Minimum score of 85 for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or 6.5 for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for applicants whose native tongue and medium of university instruction is not English.

ELECTIVEMODULES

CORE MODULES

The curriculum of the MSc in Applied GIS programme consists of core compulsory modules and elective modules. All modules carry 4 modular credits (MCs), except for GE6225 (12 MCs), GE6226 (8 MCs), GE4212 (5 MCs) and GE4214 (5 MCs). All students are required to complete 40 MCs before graduation, including 6 core modules and any 2 elective mod-ules for the Thesis Track, and 5 core modules and any 4 elective modules for the Project Track. The list of elective modules will be expanded as new, relevant modules become available.

CANDIDATURE TUITION FEES

This track includes a GIS project component. It isdesigned for students who require practical GIS skills or an upgrade to their existing GIS exper-tise to progress their careers.

PROJECT TRACK

This track includes a research thesis component, which covers thesis preparation and the GIS re-search thesis itself. It is designed for students with interests in applied GIS research and developing their research skills.

The programme of Master of Science in Applied Geo-graphic Information Systems (hereafter MSc in Ap-plied GIS), a single-degree coursework Master’s pro-gramme hosted in Department of Geography at NUS, is designed to reflect the cutting-edge technologies and latest developments in GIS and its applications with the reputation of NUS Geography as one of the top 10 geography departments around the world.
