GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

IN THE EVENT OF A MALFUNCTION OR BREAKDOWN, groundingprovides the path of least resistance for electric current, which reduces therisk of electric shock. This tool is equipped with an electrical cord that has apolarized plug. The plug MUST be plugged into a matching outlet that isproperly installed and grounded in accordance with ALL local codes andordinances.

DO NOT MODIFY THE PLUG PROVIDED. If it will not fit in the outlet, havethe proper type of outlet installed by a licensed electrician.

IMPROPER CONNECTION of the equipment grounding conductor can resultin risk of electric shock. The conductor with the green insulation (with orwithout yellow stripes) is the equipment grounding conductor. If repair orreplacement of the electrical cord or plug is necessary, DO NOT connect theequipment grounding conductor to a live terminal.

CHECK with a licensed electrician or service person if you do not completelyunderstand the grounding instructions, or if you are not sure whether the toolis properly grounded.

DOUBLE INSULATED

This tool has a plug that looks like theone shown in Fig. A. The tool is doubleinsulated in order to provide a doublethickness of insulation between you andthe tool’s electrical system. All exposedmetal parts are isolated from the internalmetal motor components with protectinginsulation.

GUIDELINES FOR USING EXTENSION CORDS

Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extensioncord, be sure to use one that is heavy enough to carry the current that yourproduct will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, whichwill result in loss of power and overheating. The table below shows thecorrect size to use according to cord length and nameplate ampere rating. Ifin doubt, use the next heavier gauge. The smaller the gauge number, theheavier the cord.

Minimum Gauge for Extension Cords (AWG)(when using 120 V only)

Make sure your extension cord is properly wired and in good condition.Always replace a damaged extension cord, or have it repaired by a qualifiedperson before using it. Protect your extension cords from sharp objects, excessive heat and damp or wet areas.

Use a separate electrical circuit for your tools. This circuit should consist ofnot less than #12 wire, and should be protected with a 15 A time-delayedfuse. Before connecting the motor to the power line, make sure the switch isin the OFF position and the electric current is rated the same as the currentstamped on the motor nameplate. Running at a lower voltage will damagethe motor.
