2 ISTM - International School of Technology and Management

The International School of Technology and Management (ISTM) at FCU is a bold initiative made by the Feng Chia Trustees at the 50th anniversary of the university. The decision was made to build a different kind of business school, providing the best global business and technology education in cooperation with prestigious universities worldwide. We consolidate solid business foundation and deep knowledge in one of technical disciplines; we incorporate hands-on practice in innovation and entrepreneurship through our multi-culture programs; and we provide global vision and ability to apply worldwide resource and market opportunities. ISTM provide students the first-class English-taught programs with an academically and culturally diverse learning experience through first-rate instructional, excellent studentship and overseas experiences, with the expectation of transforming our students’ future.

With over 60% of production operations within 2000 KM radius, ISTM @ FCU is positioned to offer students rich industrial experience through interactions, internships and interchanges.

Dean’s MessageIn the recent decades, industry has gone through transformation at the scale of a

paradigm shift. As a result, we are now living with an abundant supply of goods and services; rapid development cycles from requirements to finished products in weeks; communication in seconds; the connection of resources and markets at different ends of world; and much more. However, the education of industrial leaders has not undergone a corresponding qualitative change.

We believe that a “new generation of education” has to encompass both technology and management, be rich in cultural studies, enhance communication capabilities and be based on a global vision. Furthermore, while we can access most facts through powerful and free search engines, we believe that the leaders of the future need to have a robust understanding of the context, be skillful in structuring the key questions, and be thoughtful as well as critical in interpreting the results. Our new school will therefore not only transfer knowledge, but will also provide hands-on experience by cultivating innovation and entrepreneurship through projects that are well connected to society and industry. Finally, we believe that Feng Chia University, located at the hub of the global industrial heartland, is well positioned to nurture a new generation of industrial leaders. With this strong set of beliefs as our core values, we have invited a group of scholars and educators to be part of our unique school.

It is with a real sense of expectation and excitement that we now open the doors of the ISTM to greet students with the imagination, determination and passion.
