Our President Steve O'Grady awarded the trophies to: Club Champion Chris Lee A-Grade Graham Jones B- Grade Denis Daniels C-Grade Danny Yu D-Grade Steve Vormister Frank Moran Trophy Denis Daniels Hole-in-one Stephen O'Grady (3rd Hole Boomerang 18 July 2009) Guzzler's Guzzler Stephen O'Grady 6 Monthly Point Score (Apr) Peter Bull 6 Monthly Point Score (Oct) Peter Bull Saturday, 5 December - Georges River Golf Course - Stableford Talk about going from the sublime to the ridiculous! A 5:44am tee-off convinced us well and truly that we had entered the Summer season. The Guzzler's Cup winner was Jason Morrow (39 points) who attributed his victory to Graham Clarke who advised him to "keep your right wing in on your back swing" because after he heeded the advice he was picking the ball up well on his drives and long shots which also flew straight off the club . The Runner-Up was Brian Vandyk (38 points) ahead of Danny Yu (37 points) on a count back from Fred Eldaher. The Pink Ball was awarded to Tim Pooley (23 points). Ben Collins won Horse Lotto ($100). The members present congratulated Jason on his engagement to Bully's daughter, Melanie, to which they also attributed his improvement in his golfing prowess. The happy couple are planning on a wedding in late 2010. Saturday, 28 November - Calderwood Valley Golf Course - Stableford Once again our tee-off time was a little later than usual at 08:15 but 25 of our regular players made the trek to Calderwood and experienced a very good day of golf. Denis Daniels won the Guzzlers Cup with 42 points ahead of Fred Eldaher with 38 points and coming in third was Jeff Saunders with 37 points on a count back from Steve Carr. A host of players who must have found the conditions to their liking followed with 36 points. They were: Stephen O'Grady, Brian Vandyk, Sandy Walker & Matt Whibley. The pink ball was awarded to Paul Baillie (20 points). We welcomed a new member, Darren Franklin, and a visitor, Joel Griffiths. Saturday, 21 November - Illawarra Golf Course - Stableford 24 players teed off later than usual (8:15am) on a day that was forecast to be very warm and it was. Steve Buchanan relished the later start winning the Guzzlers Cup with 38 points on a count back from Danny Yu. Peter Bull came third with 36 points on a count back from John Rarity and Jeff Saunders. The pink ball was awarded to Peter Trevethan (21 points). The members present toasted Chris Lee who was getting married at about the same time on Saturday.

Saturday, 14 November - Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford 25 players teed off on a perfect day for golf. Alan Griffiths won the Guzzler's Cup with 35 points ahead of Michael Fuller with 34 points and Fred Jeanes with 33 points. The pink ball was awarded to Paul Baillie for his 19 points. The members wish Chris Lee and his bride-to-be a perfect day for their wedding next week and we hope that Chris will be allowed out to play golf with us some time in the future hopefully before Christmas. Fred Jeanes had a good day coming 3rd for the second time in 2 weeks. His consistency has been noted by The Handicapper. Saturday, 7 November - The Ridge Golf Course - Stableford 31 players teed off on a perfect day for golf and the course was in good condition especially the greens with the only drawback being that we had to play the 9 holes twice. Andrew Monckton, who returned last week after a long lay-off, claimed the Guzzler's Cup with 39 points ahead of Grant Thompson who had 38 points and John Rarity with 36 points on a count back from Fred Jeanes. The pink ball was awarded to Stephen O'Grady for his 24 points - the trip touring outback NSW obvious disagreed with his golf. The 6 monthly Guzzler's Guzzler competition was won by John Rarity on a count back from Fred Jeanes. Michael Fuller had his first win for the season with 40 points ahead of Grant Lethbridge on 34 points on a count back from Peter Bull in 3rd Place. The Pink Ball was awarded to Ben Collins for his 21 points. We welcomed two visitors: Sonny Miller, a friend of Danny Yu; Anthony Cutler (alias Spider), a friend of Michael Fuller. Saturday, 31 October - Boomerang Golf Course - Stableford 25 players teed off on a cloudy but warm morning making perfect conditions for golf. A few drops of rain fell midway through the round but that did not adversely impact Graham Jones, a regular player at Boomerang, who won the Guzzler's Cup scoring a fantastic 45 points (3 over par for the course). He was closely followed by Paul Liggins with 42 points ahead of Fred Jeanes with 41 points. The Pink Ball was awarded to Fred Eldaher who vowed that he would not get it again in 2009 - big prediction!. Unfortunately for Graham he had to leave immediately after the presentations as he was taking his wife, Mary, out for dinner to celebrate their wedding anniversary. He did, however, take the Guzzler's Cup with him so he can 'hit up' as many people as possible during the week for a beer before tee off next Saturday as is the right of the Guzzler's Cup winner. We welcomed a visitor, Darren Franklin, who works with Paul Baillie but we will not hold that against him. We also welcomed back Andrew Monckton who has been busy with his commitments to his young family for most of 2009. Hopefully we will get a chance to play more golf with him in the future. Saturday, 24 October - Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford 26 players teed off on a cloudy but warm morning making perfect conditions for golf.

Saturday, 17 October - Worrigee Golf Course - Annual Day - 10:00am Tee-Off. A very pleasant warm day greeted our players for annual day. We met at McDonalds at Albion Park for a pre-game bonding session and a coffee before continuing south to Worrigee via Nowra. The course was in beautiful condition and provided an excellent basis for golf. The winners on the days event were: 1st Stableford Points: Rodney Dixon (44 points) 2nd Stableford Points: Steve Buchanan (40 points) 3rd Stableford Points: Paul Baillie (37 points) 1st Stroke: George Soravia (66 strokes) 2nd Stroke: Ian Cooper (67 strokes) 3rd Stoke: Fred Jeanes (69 strokes) Least Putts: Mick Connor (27 putts) Pink Ball: Peter Chun (28 points) Winners of the pins were: Matt Whibley, Mick Connor, Rod Dixon, Steve Buchanan, Danny Yu, Rob Gillespie, Barry Hudson Welcome to Barry Hudson who travelled all the way from the Sunshine Coast to participate in this event. Saturday, 10 October - Illawarra Golf Course - Stableford 22 players teed off on an overcast morning that offered very little in the way of encouragement. The fairways were wet underfoot and the greens were a little slow albeit with a good covering of grass. Steve Buchanan made the best of the conditions winning the Guzzler's Cup with 36 points on a count back from George Soravia and Alan Griffiths. The Pink Ball was awarded to Jeff Saunders who managed to score 22 points. Players welcomed back Barry Miles, brother of Norm Miles one of our longest serving and popular members, who was a member and a regular player some years ago before moved north to a warmer climate. Saturday, 3 October - Illawarra Golf Course - Stableford 11 die hard golfers played amid light rain and overcast conditions that threatened to turn into a torrential downpour. The downpour arrived just as we finished the day's event but not before Paul Baillie claimed the Guzzler's Cup with a magnificent 33 points ahead of Garry Daniels with 32 points on a count back from Danny Yu. Steve Vormister was awarded the Pink Ball for his 21 points. Garry Daniels (last group) picked up the majority of the pins -- funny about that. Saturday, 26 September - Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford - Final Round Club Championships On a windy but warm day Alan Griffiths won the Guzzler's Cup with 33 points on a count back from Steve Carr and Danny Yu. The pink ball was awarded to Paul Baillie who scored 22 points. Peter Bull won the 6 monthly point score and it just goes to show that there are advantages to playing every week. At the end of the Final Round of the Club Championship the following players are the winners of their Grade of the Competition: Club Champion Chris Lee (246 strokes) A-Grade Graham Jones (103 points) B- Grade Denis Daniels (106 points)

The pink ball was awarded to Rodney Dixon for the last time this year. It was Fred's day though. He drove the green on the 11th off the tee only to 4 putt and won 2 Drive & Pitches and 1 Nearest The Pin during the day's event. A job very well done. Saturday, 29 August - Boomerang Golf Course - Stableford The day started off cold, windy and wet but these conditions cleared to a fine and very warm day signaling the end of Winter. Brian Vandyk handled the conditions better than most winning the Guzzler's Cup with 38 points ahead of Alan Griffiths with 37 points and Graham Jones with 36 points. The pink ball was awarded to Steve Buchanan for his 23 points.

Saturday, 22 August - Illawarra Golf Course - Stableford Last week's Pink Ball winner, Peter Bull, was today's winner with 35 points ahead of Fred Eldaher with 32 points on a count back from Denis Daniels and Ben Collins. The pink ball was awarded to Garry Daniels with 17 points. Heath Castle played today as Danny Yu's guest. Welcome back Heath! Allan Griffiths was on fire and actually one-putted 3 or 4 greens, Amazing!! Saturday, 15 August - Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford Brian Vandyk won today's event with 38 points ahead of Matt Whibley on 37 points and Mick Connor on 36 points. Obviously Brian and Matt (partners defeated in the 3rd Round of the Pairs Championship) peaked too late. The pink ball was awarded to Peter Bull for his 20 points. Saturday, 8 August - Kareela Golf Course - Stableford On a tight track, as is the case with Kareela, George Soravia used his local knowledge to win the day's event with 35 points ahead of Paul Baillie with 33 points and Danny Yu on 31 points on a count back from several other excellent golfers. The pink ball was awarded to Grant Thompson for his 18 points. The 2009 Pairs Championship was won by Danny Yu and Fred Eldaher defeating Garry Daniels and Graham Jones 4 & 3. Saturday, 1 August - Illawarra Golf Course - Stableford While the real golfers were all up at the Gold Coast playing golf, taking in the sights at the Gold Coast Races and sampling some of Queensland's legendary amber fluids Steve Vormister defeated the 'also rans' with 31 magnificent points on a count back from Ian Cooper and big John Rarity on 29 points. The pink ball was awarded to Glen Holland with 15 points. Pairs Championship Final Round: Deferred until next week due to some of the players being away on the golf weekend away. Saturday, 25 July - Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford On a beautiful Winter's day Gary Barnes broke his drought and won with 38 points a clear winner from Rodney Dixon on 34 points ahead of Brian Vandyk on 33 points. Steve O'Grady (otherwise known as SOG) achieved a magnificent Hole-In-One last week but this week he was awarded the pink ball for his 19 points. This was apparently SOG's first pink ball. Oh well there is still another 22 weeks to go this year and there is plenty of time for a few more. Paul Bailllie might even have a bet on that! Pairs Championship Round 3: Gary Daniels & Graham Jones defeated Jeff Saunders & John Rarity 2 & 1 Fred Eldaher & Danny Yu defeated Matt Whibley & Brian Vandyk 4 & 3 Saturday, 18 July - Boomerang Golf Course - Stableford On a moist track (tee up through the greens) but in warm sunny conditions Peter Trevethan won the day's event with 44 points from Brian Vandyk with 38 points on a count back from Paul Baillie also on 38 points. Chris Lee, last week's winner, was awarded with the pink ball for his 16 points. It is amazing how often one week's Guzzler's Cup winner is the

next week's pink ball winner! Steve O'Grady scored a magnificent Hole-In-One on the 3rd. This was Steve's second Hole-In-One. Congratulations to Steve from all of his mates at golf. The pink ball was awarded to Grant Thompson on 31 points. The Club had not played Hudson Park for many years and those who attended enjoyed the experience (especially Jason) resulting in the Secretary being asked to add another game at Hudson Park next year consequently we will play there twice in 2010. Saturday, 27 June - Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford Jeff Saunders won today's event on a very wet and sluggish track with 33 points on a count back from John Rarity and Rodney Dixon who came third on a count back from Chris Lee with 32 points. The pink ball was awarded to John Adelerhof on 19 points. Saturday, 20 June - Calderwood Valley Golf Course - Ambrose This year's Hacker's Challenge was won by the Engadine Hackers 1 up. The team of Rob Gillespie & Fred Jeannes were the best from the Miranda players. The team of Garry Daniels (last week's runner up) and Jeff Saunders were awarded the pink ball. The Engadine Hackers were ecstatic with only their 5th win against Miranda in 13 outings. Jason Morrow, on the other hand, was ecstatic that his drives had been so straight and long on the front 9 holes that he and Chris Lee had chosen his balls to play in the Ambrose competition. Naturally Chris & Jason were winners against their competition from the Hackers. Hopefully this performance will continue for Jason next week at Woolooware.

Saturday, 13 June - Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford The Woolooware specialist, Steve Carr, won with 37 points ahead of Garry Daniels with 36 points and Al Griffiths with 33 points. The pink ball was awarded to Jason Morrow with 15 points. This was the last time that Jason could win the pink ball this year. Saturday, 6 June - Boomerang Golf Course - Stableford Chris Lee won today's event with 41 points on a very wet and sluggish track from Jeff Saunders with 39 points and Steve Buchanan with 38 points. Somebody forgot to tell Jeff Saunders that, as he was last week's winner, he should have won the pink ball but that honour went to Tim Pooley with 26 points. Saturday, 30 May - Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford Amid intermittent showers and on a soft wet track Jeff Saunders won the day's event with a magnificent 39 points ahead of Steve Carr (the Woolooware specialist) on 37 points and Steve Buchanan on 36 points. The pink ball was awarded to Garry Daniels. If Garry follows in the footsteps of Paul Baillie he should win next week. Saturday, 23 May - Rosnay (Auburn) Golf Course - Stableford Despite the downpour of rain throughout Friday and the early hours of Saturday morning Saturday was clear & dry. The greens were in good 'nick' and were well mown to produce a good putting surface although there was plenty of water on the fairways and surrounding the greens. Paul Baillie, last week's pink ball winner, won the day's event with 37 points with Fred Jeannes returning to form coming in second with 36 points on a count back from George Soravia. Peter (I can't play off 14) Bull was awarded the pink ball for his 22 points. All in all it was a pleasant return to Rosnay after about 4 years especially considering the Calamari & chips for $6 that most of us consumed in the club house after the event. As Pooley said "Over recent weeks while Fred Jeannes has been playing badly there has been no conversation on the way home in the car with Chris Lee. Matt Whibley and the team", but today when Fred was probably wanting to outline exactly what went right on a hold by hole basis, he was alone in his car -- a wasted opportunity. Oh well there is always next week. Saturday, 16 May - Illawarra Golf Course - Stableford It was a windy and cool start to a beautiful day that saw Tim Pooley handle the conditions better than the rest of us. Tim won with 37 points ahead of Scott Whyte with 34 points and Steve Carr on 31 points. The pink ball was awarded to Paul Baillie who had accumulated 4 points before he left after 9 holes. Saturday, 9 May - Riverlands Golf Course - Stableford It was a bit cool in the shade to start but once the sun came up it was a glorious day. Peter Bull won with 37 points on a count back from Sandy Walker with Alan Griffiths coming in third on 36 points on a count back from John Adelerhof and Rob Gillespie. The pink ball was awarded to Gary Hodsdon who had a magnificent 22 points. Our two longest markers, Jason Morrow & John Adelerhof, both won balls and they were not pink.

Saturday, 2 May - Illawarra Golf Course - Stableford Back to Illawarra which was relatively dry under foot in stark contrast with Boomerang last week. Saturday, 25 April - Boomerang Golf Course - Stableford Despite a chilly start, the day turned into a pleasant warm day although the course management specified "Tee up through the green" due to the dampness of the course after recent heavy rain. The conditions suited Peter Chun who won the day's event with 46 points ahead of Paul Baillie on 44 points and Gary Hodsdon on 42 points. The conditions did not suit Jason Morrow who won the pink ball with 12 points. Saturday, 18 April - Riverlands Golf Course - Stableford On a dry warm Autumn day Fred El Daher won today's event with 45 points well clear of Danny Yu on 40 points and Garry Daniels on 38 points. The pink ball was awarded to Luke Anderson with 9 points. Today was Luke's first competition event with a handicap. Members joined Gary Hodsdon in celebrating his 56th birthday. Saturday, 4 April - Boomerang Golf Course - Stableford Despite the course being very wet under foot, early gale strength winds and the ever present threat of a drenching, Peter Bull won today's event with 35 points on a countback from Sandy Walker with Fred Jeannes coming in third on 34 points. The pink ball was awarded to John Rarity with 21 points.
