We strive to avoid or minimize the adverse impact on society, focusing in ethical criterias while creating sensual, timeless and durable products that will both stand the test of time an inspire consumers to cherish and maintain.

Maters internationally recognized wooden High Stool is now labeled and manufactured in FSCTM certified wood. FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council and is an international, recognized non-profit organization. In an FSC-certified forest no more trees than the forest can reproduce is felled, so the exploitation of nature is avoided. In addition, FSC guarantee that flora and fauna are protected and that the people who work in the forest are guaranteed education, safety and a fair pay. Read more at www.fsc.org.

A high stool for occasional use, handcrafted in recycled aluminum with a black Italian leather seat. These pieces are crafted in a small Indian workshop. The raw material is from old car components and other aluminum waste that is collected through the workshop participation in the sustainable program Susbiz India.

_Highly skilled artisans operating from workshops and small cooperatives in the Jaipur Province have crafted the stool. The workshop has actively participated in the fair trade program Susbiz India (www.susbizindia.org), externally managed and audited by the Danish federation of small and medium-sized enterprises. The aluminium is recycled, collected from first grade waste. Sand casted and manually polished.

It stands out as an alluring design piece and has a distinct timeless character which trademarks furniture from Mater. By flipping the lid the stool converts into a occasional table. By removing the lid it can be used for storage. Hide is made of black stained hardwood with a top of black stained mdf and a seat of black Italian leather. These pieces are produced in a small Indian carpentry in the Jaipur Province, India.

# belt Chair

Design: Ayush Kasliwal / INDMaterial: black stained beech wood, black vegetable tanned leatherDimensions: W 56 cm x D 58 cm x H 80 cm [seatheight: 44 cm] Origin: made in Rajasthan, India The belt chair is a modern adaptation of the traditional charpoy (literally translates to four legs), which are often woven with niwar or cotton webbing. The chair is made in solid beech, and in vegetable tanned leather (as is used in high quality belts). The generous shape, and clean lines make the chair extremely comfortable, and at the same time, a modern classic.The chairs are produced in small batches by skilled carpenters from the jangid com-munity in Rajasthan, India, and the leather is processed in tanneries that specialize in vegetable tanning (i.e. a tanning process that uses tannin, and other substances of plant origin) thereby sustaining the environment as well as cultural traditions.The chair can also be stacked in order to save space.

Design: Michael Dreeben / USMaterial: frame in beechwood or oak with top in premium brown saddle leather or black leather.Dimensions: W 48 cm x D 46 cm x H 89 cm [seatheight: 45 cm] Origin: handmade in Jaipur, India The Shell Chair developed out of Michael Dreeben ongoing interest in traditional craft practices in North India - in this case saddle making. Exquisitely made saddles have been produced in India for centuries, and although some horse culture persists, it's waning as India becomes more technologically developed. The Shell Chairs attempt to incentivize this skilled trade by providing these artisans with a new market for their craft, and hopefully encouraging them to pass it on to younger generations. The shape of the chair is an homage to Scandinavian design of the mid-twentieth century and embraces some of its core values: it's clean of line and is intended to emphasize the leather forming and stitching, it's deeply comfortable, and it's durable like the saddles it's derived from, it's crafted from thick, top-grain leather, and with reasonable care, will last for decades. While we cannot effect the restoration and preservation of old structures, we can at least make sure that the remains are put to good use, in a new and sustainable form, a form that celebrates history, and can take the object into the future.The table brings together the noble materials - cast recycled aluminum, and wood in an elegant and strikingly modern aesthetic- completely bared down to the most essential elements without compromising the structure. While on a trip to Jaipur, India, Thomas Lykke and Ayush Kasliwal started the dialogue after seeing a stack of reclaimed teak and in the process gave "a new" birth to the Mill Table. Both Lykke and Kasliwal share a mutual understanding and respect of aesthetics and design principles, and an innate understanding of materials and how they are manipulated to make functional objects.

# 016 bowl table series

An adaptation of traditional wooden laquer trays, this alien looking table is multifunctional and comes in a knock down form. The legs detach for ease of transport, reducing the cost and the energy spent on transporting material from various parts of the world, and additionally, allow the table to be used as a bowl or a tray as well. The idea is inspired by objects that are simple and had multiple applications, and yet were not burdens on the planet.The shape of the mango table is derived from traditional kneading bowls that used to be lacquered in bright red, and were found extensively across south of India.The mango table has a top made from the wood of a fruit tree. It is grown and tended for, and once the productive life of the tree is over, it is cut down and another one is planted. Incidentally, mango, as a fruit is widely consumed across the country hence the wood is plentiful.

It is turned manually on the lathe, showcasing the skill of the kharaadi or the wood turning community, thereby supporting local skills. The legs are made of mild steel, machined out of rods. The finishing is done with lead free water based PU lacquers, thereby respecting the local environment.

The Mater Sideboard is an elegant handbuilt cabinet made in mango wood. The size of the cabinet allows you to place it anywhere in a room and due to the beautiful solid wooden backside it can even be freestanding. The attention to details such as the recessed lines in the cabinet doors makes the Mater Sideboard a simple yet refined piece of storage furniture.

A new iconic object for placing coats, hats and bags. It has nine discs in three different sizes. Discs are fitted to the stand using turned wooden dowels.The Trumpet Coatstand is flat packed. Table and floor lamp designed by Jesper K. Thomsen and Sanne Traberg, Denmark. The body and legs of the lamp is manually turned in wood after old craft traditions. The name of the lamp (Lathe) refers to the small turning tool the craftsmen uses when making the body and legs.

The lamp is made after fair trade principles and at the same workshop as the well-known mater high stool. The oak wood is from controlled sources with a shade in black or white cotton or linen.

"The Dome Lamp is an iconic representation of what is light. Light eminates evenly in a 360 degree pattern from its source (such as in the case with the sun) so therefore the most honest approach toward the design of a lamp to me was a spherical solution. The design is essentially a globe form hollowed out to allow the light to distribute. Such a mathematical solution enables the design to be timeless and familiar however com-pletely new in approach as it is more of an engineering solution than a fashion based one". - Todd Bracher
