mates present:
matesMates is a new series of exhibitions showcasing local and international graphic art. Our aim is to promote accessible and exciting mediums for art in a modern age and get more people involved with it.
Mates was born as part of Rob Goodall and Alex Sickling’s final major project, whilst studying at Leeds College of Art. Since their graduation it has been reborn and rebranded. Our aim is to run as a collective, providing an online gallery alongside future exhibitions and events.
A form of art exists for everyone to enjoy, people of all intellects, interests and social backgrounds. All these forms can co-exist and communicate collabortively and peacefully within Graphic Art.

In Scouts, valuable skills and lessons are learned that help shape those involved into more appreciative and open minded individuals. We want to learn, celebrate and spread these skills.

As part of the exhibition, we invited people to produce work for the show. We were lucky enough to have Cachete Jack and Henry McCausland help us out.
We’d like to take this time to thank them for taking us seriously and helping us out! Thanks guys.
Mates ran a call for submissions to get more people involved and excited about graphic art. We are strong believers that art should not be self contained and isolated. We would like to thank the following people for submitting work to the show:

Mates believe art should be easy and fun to get involved with. Our first show incorporated this within the Scouting for Life... In Space feature.
Visitors were able to touch, laugh at and be part of art as they danced and posed for a Sci-fi themed photoshoot. These photos were then uploaded to social networking devices to help promote interactive art.

We are currently in the process of organising our second graphic art exhibition. Our first show will always be special to us, but we aim to improve and progress with the next show.
