TRANSCRIPT
Get Heard! What you're not doing to get your music out there.
So, you’re ready to get your name out there?
Not so fast.
It’s much easier said than done…
But knowing common mistakes can help you correct them before you make them!
Text
You’re curbing consistencyYour output is up and down, and you don’t have any direction.
Getting ConsistentConsistency doesn’t mean frequency. Putting out a ton of low quality work hurts more than it helps
Rather, set expectations and create goals to reach them
Always be ready to work on something
This way, once you complete a goal, you’ll be ready to press onto your next one

There’s an Unwillingness to GrindDreams aren’t enough. You’ve got to work to get what you want.
Why get motivated?
No matter how talented you are, you need to prove to labels that you can deliver.
You don’t show up at a 9 to 5 office job expecting the same treatment and benefits as established employees
The music industry is no different. If you want to go far, you have to be willing to put in work, often times doing more than expected of you.

Finding your (online) voice
Social media separates the old school from the new
When used properly, you can put your music in front of potential fans… for free
There are tons of guides that tell you how to best utilize different platforms like Twitter, Soundcloud, and Tumblr
Plus, you get feedback from average fans!

Be RealisticStart slowly and build momentum.
Keeping it in PerspectiveOf course you want to submit your material to widely read blogs and publications. Who wouldn’t?
But when you’re fighting to make noise in a crowded field, it’s best to start small.
Send them to the smaller publications and make a splash there.
Over time, work your way up— you’ll be building credibility
