Dear Year R, here is your week’s home learning Minibeast fun based on bees. Hope you enjoy it, Mrs C x Literacy activities: 1. Watch the ‘What am I?’ powerpoint to read the clues and guess the minibeast. Complete the guess the minibeast activity sheet. 2. Write your own sentences about minibeasts of your choosing for others to guess. 3. Minibeast themed crossword, discuss the themed vocabulary. 4. Mininbeast themed writing prompts. Choose the pictures you wish to write about. Use your phonics to sound out each word. 5. Find out the differences between a bee and a wasp, list some facts. 6. Read the bee poem and underline the ‘ee/ea’ words. 7. Complete this online ordering and sequencing game at a level to suit your child, use a number line or 100 square. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ordering-and- sequencing/caterpillar-ordering 2. Bees in the garden halving sheet. 3. Doubling and halving game to reinforce these two concepts. Have counters/ Objects to physically halve or double. 4. Minibeat top trump style game, 2 or more players. Pick a card each and see who has the highest value number to win the round. 5. Bee estimation activity 6. Practise naming 2D shapes. Make Honeycomb tessellations using the activity sheets provided. Programme the Bee-Bot robot around the map. Select forward, backwards, turn and watch Bee-Bot go! Don’t forget to clear the memory after each move.
